Is that for your Camry?

Keeping winters on the steel wheels?

In case, you are planning to keep 2 sets of tires/wheels. You may get a better deal if you buy summer tires and rims together.

Canadiantire alloy rims don't fit camry 2007 !
« Reply #7 on: November 03, 2008, 03:03:25 pm »
I am so disappointed today, that 99.99 alloy rims don't fit my 2007 camry LE. I took my car there this morning, and first they said I need new sockets for the new rims, that 130 dollars extra. I accepted it. After 2 hours , they told me new camry has new design, 2 front brakes will be damaged if put these alloy rims on while you driving.(to be  honestly, they have put them on, my car looks fabulous). They told me to  put on the steel one or put 17" rims instead of 16'' rims. I have decided to let them order OEM steel rims from my delear, at least that hubcaps fit. I am waiting now. Hope my experience is useful.

Besides being a compatible diameter and width, rims have to have the correct offset, # of bolt holes, correct bolt hole diameter, and have to clear the brakes.  Even the size of the center hole can be an issue.  Once you encounter all these hurtles it would seem lucky to find aftermarket rims carried by mass marketers that would fit.   There are rim specialty companies that list all the specs for their rims, but the brake clearance issue is never specified.

Try  http://www.replika.ca    they have correct fitting alloy wheels for Camry and are inexpensive. I bought some for my BMW and they were perfectly round and properly Hub centric.   I noticed while in there that Teds sells replika although they are not a dealer. There are dealers in G

By Internet searching I was able to find a set of used oem 17" rims, for about $80 each plus shipping.  Shipping was not very expensive, even all the way across the country.  Downside is that they had corroding and peeling clearcoat, and needed cosmetic refurbishing.  I did them myself and they didn't come out perfect.  I have no way to renew an anodized finish.  But they look plenty good enough for winter tire use.  They easily pass the 10' test.  Clear Plasti-Kote makes an excellent thick clearcoat.

I could have gotten a set of flawless used 16" compatible oem rims for about $130 each, but I wanted to be really cheapo.  And for whatever good it does, all the tires and rims I have will be interchangable.

So now I also have an oem alloy rim to use with the spare, and absolutely no concerns about how the rims fit.

To find used oem rims, I'd suggest checking with wreckers, dealerships (in case they have any used rims laying around), kijiji, Craigslist, eBay...    As I mentioned, shipping is surprisingly cheap.

The other good thing about going to the trouble of finding used oem rims, is that it's less environmentally damaging than causing new rims to be manufactured while used ones end up being melted down.  Even if they're shipped from afar, so are the new ones.
