...and he likes to speed while visiting Germany...

(yes, the story is wrong, it's an Avant, but it's cooler for Animal to drive a TT)

The picture is pretty funny, but the story is a little fishy.

The article says "But because continental speed cameras are set up for left-hand drive vehicles, the cameras keep missing the driver’s face."

Huh? How's that possible? Besides, the driver's face clearly is visible in the photo. If it wasn't, then why did they go to the trouble of digitally blurring it out?   ???

Whether the photo is real or not, I don't know.  However, I know that in places where the camera takes a picture of the driver, there has been trouble with also photographing the passenger.  There is an expectation of privacy, and I believe that the cameras are set up to blur the passenger section of the car.

Somewhere in the archives of the Tokyo police there is a picture of an RX7 doing well over the speed limit on an urban expressway with one of my bosses driving, a colleague in the front passenger seat and my face peering out between them. I have seen a copy of this picture and it is very clear. Taken in August 1980.

i have heard all the arguments about privacy and why the pictures should be taken from behind yadda yadda yadda.   Front pic getting the number plate and the drivers picture is the way to go.   A reason to keep front plates.

Now I personally don't think that there should be ANY photoradar, but if it has to be then it should be done in such a way that people cannot weasel out.
A common mistake that people make when trying to design something completely foolproof is to underestimate the ingenuity of complete fools.
