The Honda dealership the SiL works at is very busy in the shop, but what do I know?

I am not going to get into a battle with a fanboy but I guess all the excellent reliability rating Honda gets must all be propaganda and lies. Perhaps I have owned the only Hondas that do not spend 990% of their time in the shop for warranty work?

Oh, and another thing. Honda does retail repairs for the same price as a jobber shop. Want your brakes done? Well, you'll pay the same at Midas or Honda. Try that at your GM store. When I left GM, pads and rotors on a Malibu was $630 plus tax, retail. And they wonder why they went broke?

Every one of our cars that we have owned/currently own that is/was under warranty, has gone in for warranty work, Honda or not.

Back on topic...our neighbor's 06' Jetta TDI (or I think its an 06'), has had no problems, aside from some light bulbs burning out.

I have a Honda and it's my last. Let's just say they should put more money in the car than in the tv ads. I was in the process of trading my 06 Civic for a 9-3 SAAB. But my next ride will be a VW for sure. I didn't like the SAAB 9-3 as much as I would have liked, but I really dig the Passat. Can't wait to try the new CC. The TDI wagon would be my second runner for the mileage.

I have test driven the Jetta TDI and am really impressed. My first new car was a 240D which I drove for 250,000kms. The new TDI is a far cry from that 1979 model.

  In Vancouver there is a 4 month waiting list for the sedan and an 18 month waiting list for the wagon.

  I test drove a Fit on the same day, no waiting list!

Honda products are reliable we had a 79 Civic from new. sold 17 yrs later with very few problems.

VW markets their desirable products very well for the company, not so good for the consumer. The Golf TDI will be less expensive when it arrives in Canada. The big question is when. European mass market diesels will take a long time to filter into our economy  eg Focus Diesel, BMW 128 D, Mini Diesel all highly rated models at reasonable prices.

This is what I dont get.  EVERY other manufacturer has left VW to own the affordable diesel segment for 20 years.
