The 1969 Chevelle is off to have some work done...
« on: September 20, 2008, 08:33:48 pm »
Even at $14500 no one ever bit on my car. :P

So, I have decided to keep it for now and have some work done to her. Here she is sitting in the driveway ready for a cruise:

Some of you may know that my hobby is collecting vintage watches. Like the Chevelle, the watch on my wrist is a second owner item as well. In this case it is a 1969 Seiko 6105-8000 diver that has been restored.

I am replacing the Quadrajet with a Street Avenger 670 which should get things going a bit better. I am also having the Turbomatic 350 pulled to get the leaky front seal sorted. I have a shift kit to go into it and I just may overhaul the whole darned thing and put a nice stall behind it to help it out. Also, presently the exhaust ends just behind the rear wheels. My system is entirely 2 1/2 (and loud) and I will have piping custom bent so that I can stay at 2 1/2 instead of using the factory 1 7/8 set up...

I am also replacing the original sunvisors and rear view mirror. I am also putting a new heater core into the car and some other nagging stuff will get sorted. I may even source new front and rear bumpers to go with the paint job the car got last summer! Maybe I am just meant to hold onto this thing... ;D

Bye bye for a few weeks...

I have been running a B&M stall which is a 2600 and it has been extremely solid so far. My TH400 is a stage 2 shift kit design which also works good. If you are changing the exhaust I might suggest going a full 3" in stainless as the sound really mellows out even nicer. I run that as well on the truck and there are some folks on here who have heard it. You pay a little more for the stainless exhaust but will get it back in the long run as it does evaluate the vehicle even more.  :)

yea .... so easy back then.  Now you gotta be a surgeon first, mechanic second.

Good looking car!

Thanks for the compliments everyone! :)

The colour turned out really cool. It required 3 seperate applications of paint to get the colour. In the shade the paint can almost look kind of blue. When the sun hits it though it is a nice metallic green like so:

Actually this pics shows the paint pretty well. You can see the blue hues lower on the quarter panel...

The only offer I ever got for the car was to trade it for a drag Nova! :o

The new battery tray came today and I got a whack of vinyl on Friday which I will use to reskin some pieces. More parts are on the way and the new heater core will be in the car later this week.

Hey, with a heater core I can drive the car on cool days again! Maybe I can get some cruises in late October and early November before the snow really hits! :D

Nice, I have always liked the clean lines of the 1969 Chevelle.

Old Auto's might be your bet for selling the car as it does go all over the world let alone across Canada. You get a free ad for each year when you either renew or order the subscription. I always take a 2 year sub as it gives me 2 free ads. Stuff does sell quite well on there I can attest to that as I have sold numerous parts over the years this way.  :)
