Is there any reason I shouldn't go for an exterior detailing of my car after getting it Krown'ed (rustproofed)?
When I say exterior detailing I mean: wash, clay bar, possibly high-speed polishing, wax.

Just checking!

When you wash it use dish soap not car wash soap.

^^Why Steve?  When you get your car back from Krown, they wash it for you.  And he says "go" for a detailing I'm sure the people there will use the proper stuff to do a complete detail...

Dish soap usually strips the carwax off of most cars. There's a big differenece between the two soaps. Krown has alraedy sealed the body and wax so why try to remove it. I am sure it will come back very clean after they do their treatment.  Smiley

No wash for a minimum 3 days after Krowning.  Smiley

I just watched a special on TV after Krowned a Buick Grand National and they washed it after they were done...

From Krowns own website:

After your vehicle is sprayed with Krown at one of our locations, your vehicle receives a wash.  We are cleaning the excess product off of the windows and painted surfaces where the product is not active.  The rust inhibitor itself cannot be removed from the metal with soap and water.

Krown seals nothing.  It's a penetrant.  If your going to wax you do so after Krown. Dish soap cuts thru Krown the best, but try and avoid over doing it.

Please, find me a Krown shop that washes the entire car after a treatment.  I've only used 3 places and they only clean the windows.  Very few shops are equipped to wash the car.  I suspect this is a marketing ploy as the biggest negative about the treatment is the mess it leaves on the car and most ppl can"t tolerate it.

The statement about soap and water not being able to dilute the Krown is simply a fib.  That's why you don't want to wash the car for 3 days after treatment.  AND the part about spraying the underside while it's wet, not being an issue, is also a fib.  If it's raining on my day I call and cancel.

I've only been to Krown once, and my car came back washed.  I'll be going again this year, so I'll let you know what happens...

Then I highly recommend you tell them not to wash it.  Like others Krown users have stated, the hotter out the better and then leave the car to drip for a few days.  The first day it drips the most.  Stops completely after 4 days if T40 is used.  During this time it's best to avoid rain if you can because it does wash off.  The point is to have the stuff penetrate all the tiny cracks before it washes off.  So lack of water is a good thing.  Do you spray WD40 on a hinge and then wash it off immediately so it looks cleaner  Huh  The two products are pretty close in nature.

The only point to washing right away is to make the car look presentable.  Roll Eyes

But when you wash the cars, the gravity mostly causes the water to fall right to the ground.  It's not going to get into the nooks and crannies likes the Krown spray does...nor is it going to get up into the under-carriage.  I'm really not terribly worried about it..

They washed down the truck a month ago.
It was just a quick surface was probably to remove any oil on the exterior so it does not get on your clothes

I would wait about a week before taking it to a detail, they could get pissed at all the oil marks in their shop

Yes, but it goes down the windows and into the bottom of the doors and out the drain holes.  It goes down the front air vents and down the firewall. It gets into the lip around the wheel wells which is a very important area.  The thing is, what is the rush. Huh  Give the stuff a chance to "creep" undiluted for at least a few days in the sun.

I'm planning on getting my detailing done this weekend (2 weeks after the Krowning). I plan to simply indicate to the detailer that I recently had the vehicle Krowned, so he shouldn't do an underbody wash, etc. (hopefully he knows what Krown is...)

Apparently not. I had the 8 done this past weekend and the Krown brochure specifically stated that it would not harm asphault. I imagine that Krown will wash off your driveway with TSP and a strong stream of water. Makes me wonder how well it stands up to the automatic washes that spray the underside of cars each time you drive through.
