He may be single, but perhaps he *should* put some of that money towards a house, rather than BMW.

I've reached the simple conclusion that morgage interest is ridiculous and it makes sense to pay it off ASAP - but I'm also a married graduate student on the cusp of defending and entering the full-time workforce. For me, it comes down not to what I *can* afford, but what I *should* afford. I'd look like a selfish lush in a BMW, while my wife drives her Corolla. This is only my situation, though. It's always been tempting to put that scholarship lump sum down on a car. The BMW will come, I personally don't want one now as a 27 year old.

I'm about 95% sure on the WRX265

IMO a 328i Coupe fits with the sport package the bill quite nicely.. great handler and as a 6 second car it can hardly be called a slouch. There are cars with much higher HP that dont do nearly as well in the straight.

A slightly used 335i might also be a great bargain. Think about it.. 3 years of warranty still on that sucker. Here's an example (although I cant figure out for the life of me why he's giving it away for so less):

Wowsers... "vishnu tuned" as well.  That's a lotta power there, Oz.

Vman, don't feel bad about the wives driving 'lesser cars' to work; afterall, think of all the harassment they'd endure for driving better cars than the principals.  Those public jobs require one to keep a low profile.  Besides, do a cost comparison of shoes, handbags, hair-styling, manicures and so on and she'll see that you're getting your just desserts with a Bimmer.   ;D

Tell me about it.. if its tuned right from what I've read on e90 post.. its probably faster than a M3 in the 0-60.

Almost wish I could trade mine in for it.  ;D

Vman, don't listen to GD.  He DRIVES the wife's car...   ;D (that's for all the sissy colour comments).

He is right though.  This may not apply to your situation but when I add up what my wife spends each month on clothing, shoes, etc., in addition to her Jetta, the numbers are *pretty* close to my 135i.  My one regret is that it's hard to question her on her purchases now...she only has to point in the direction of the garage to shut me up.  Ah well....

...and, well, in your case, you have to add in your own manicures and pedicures too.   :-*

Please will you all promise NOT to publish your pictures proving the existence or not of your wax jobs and freshly trimmed toenails. this ( except for Saf) is a family website.  :o  ::)

Well, at least we're getting better here.  4 pages before going hideously and woefully off topic.

I still think it's cool how in only one year, Subaru has turned its formerly great WRX to a lost soul, and back to a legitimate front-runner in the class.  Indeed, what else does offer such value and excitement with RWD or AWD?

No joke.  That's a VERY good car.  And essentially the same engine as in the EVO (4G63).  AWD that worked, handling that was good. And can be modded to make BIG power.  And great fuel economy to boot.  And you can get them cheap. And reliable.  Great car IMO...

You had one?  Please share the details...

So good I had 15 years of them. Purchased the first one in Aug 1989 and the second in 1996. I would've bought another if they would have had the same Turbo 4G63 and AWD...but that's history now.
The 2nd 2G had a 16G turbo and all the other normal mods like upgraded BOV/piping, controler, etc.
They still are a good buy IMO and an excellent Winter beater car, lots of them around too for parts.

Yea I know it.  I beat one at the track not too long ago.  He was running 11.40@13x  Surprised the heck out of me. Looked stock.  And he had to ease it off the line so he didn't break his driveline.  VERY potent little package, and would be an absolute street terror....
