Crikey, seen how much that shifter moves when he hits the limiter!!  Great lap time though..

Nissan, the gauntlet has been thrown.  Can the GT-R Spec-V measure up?

I love the competition!

We're [well the people buying them] are getting better cars because of the need for manufacturers to have the best ring times. Keep it coming

I wonder how many mili-seconds he is loosing when hitting the rev limiter?

Also love the sound when he hits the compressions in the road.  :o
A subwoofer should only be noticed once it has been turned off.

None, he's hitting it just before the braking points, it would probably cost him time trying to change up there.

I wonder how much practice time is needed so that you can memorize the line and braking points on such a long course?

At the 3:40 AND the 0:30 left to go marks I found myself saying "lift...lift you fool"!   :o

One missed shift with 1:13 to go.

Not a lot of shifting going on there....a torque curve as wide as Montana do they say?
If it flies, floats or f#%&s...rent it.

I would still like to see how fast a  F1/GP2/Indy/Champ car could get around that circuit in the dry.  Just to give the manufacturers something to aim for.   Perhaps young Mr Kubica in his BMW-Sauber... he seems to be a brave guy.  I think one would want a medevac helo following him around just in case and a blimp or a couple more helos to ensure that we saw the in car camera stuff cleanly including the G meter/speed/braking graphics shown on some F1 cars and tracks.

Give Mr K a week to practice....
A common mistake that people make when trying to design something completely foolproof is to underestimate the ingenuity of complete fools.

The Radical SR8 did it in 6:55 and it has 360 hp and weighs around 1400 lbs.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AzxW51EyoWY

Double the hp, add a lot more downforce, more favourable gearing, and a 5.XX something could be doable.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nordschleife_fastest_lap_times

According to F1 Racing magazine of June 2006, BMW engineers had estimated that a BMW-Sauber F1.06 could lap in under 5:15.8[51] which equals to an average of 237 km/h (147 mph).

Production cars would get absolutely decimated :D

So why doesn't a road legal Radical hold the record?  It is a production car.
