It is rare occurance for a car to come onto the automotive scene and make a huge splash. But two years in a row, two different companies have managed to do so.  Last year, Audi introduced the R8: a car with supercar looks and performance for a bargain price (well, in comparison to other supercars).  The R8 was voted Canadian Car of the Year by the Automobile Journalists Association of Canada.  This year, Nissan released the 2009 Nissan GT-R, a car with supercar performance but perhaps not-quite-supercar looks.  More ...

This should be interesting.

"perhaps not-quite-supercar looks"

That's ok I like that. But it will blow the doors off just about anything out there and even in the winter ;D

Love the car.. but I heard it's a relatively dull drive in normal speeds..(from Top Gear) I hope you'll have some open road to play with this week.

Cortina:  At least Nissan is bringing their cars over!... the sporty ones I mean.  Next up, we can only hope for a Silvia/180sx/240sx iteration.

"not supercar looks"... well, yah, it will kill that R8.  People who can appreciate true supercar performance will know.. just like STI and Evo.

Have fun driving the car. A lot of us would love to be doing your job right now!

It's a nice car...definently one of the best dollar values out there.  Unfortunately, it is, sorry to say, a Nissan.  They should have put it under the Infinity name.

The Nissan (Skyline) GT-R is the original vehicle known world wide, seem more fitting to keep it under Nissan.

The thing is ppl buy these cars for image, not because they are enthusiasts.  You're in the service area surrounded by Versas.  ::)   I dunno, doesn't seem that car is at the right dealership.

I would just like to comment on "it could be mistaken for a 350z and passed by without a second glance" i would hazzard a guess as to say that you havn't actually seen the car in real life. In real life the car has a massive presence. I have seen it side by side with the R8 and it made the R8 look like a little kids toy. I have chased this car around the world going to see it in Japan when it was launched and although it is not good looking it is macho and confident and will certainly turns heads. I drive the R34 GT-R and that still turns heads today.

::) Yup.  That explains why Nissan has had so much trouble selling these cars!

Wait, what's that?  They've sold all of them, sight unseen, with a Nissan badge?

Just because you're too much of a badge snob to buy a fast Nissan, doesn't mean everyone is.  Nissan will sell plenty of GT-Rs, regardless of badge...
