I use both the 0/30 and the 0/40
What is FE and TBN
Fe is iron. A little high. Could be sourced from metal engine parts (bearings etc.) Still this number is reasonable for the conditions I put this engine through.
TBN is Total Base Number and is a measure of an oils alkalinity and a measurement of it's ability to nuetralize acids formed during combustion. The higher the TBN the more acid it can nuetralize.
XD-3 is a great group IV synthetic with a very robust additive pack (high zinc, high Ca). The original TBN is 12.5, after a year I have about 5 TBN left. The oil is still able to nuetralize acids.
For the other question:
I get XD-3 for $5/L. The Dakota takes 6L, so $30 for oil and $6 for the filter. $36/year for my oil change. Plus a little bit of my own time.
