Which Tires Should I Get For Old Subaru?
« on: August 02, 2008, 09:52:41 pm »
I'm looking for something to replace the B F Goodrich Long Trail TA's for the summer.

They are P205 70 15. The treadwear rating is 440 - a tough tire. The tread refuses to wear out, but the tires are over 8 years old and the sidewalls are cracked at the shoulders. Time to look for replacements before the tread peels off at the worst time.

Winter tires are Nokian WR's.

I was thinking of whatever Canadian Tire sells, like BF Goodrich Radial T/A, or, if they are inexpensive, Traction T/A or Touring T/A.

I usually deal with Green And Ross. Tires they sell in my size at a modest price include Uniroyal Tiger Paw Freedom, B. F. Goodrich Revelation Touring, Uniroyal Tiger Paw Touring, and Goodyear WeatherHandler LS.

Anyone out there with an older Outback with summer (inexpensive "all season") tires? Or a similar vehicle with 15 inch tires?

My Decision - At Last

A mechanic friend showed me cracks I hadn't noticed on my ten-year-old summer tires that refused to wear out.

I bought Michelin HydroEdge.

They are so quiet, I thought there was an air leak in the windows. No road noise. Same ride. More road feel & steering response.

Active / Green And Ross

We have HydoEdge's on the Sienna, you should be happy.

On the Forester, I am running General Grabber AT2's for 3 seasons and Blizzak W60's for winter but I take my Forester to the woods a fair bit for my work.

Welcome to the forum.
