Think DSG is delayed a year, and will be available for 2010 - not sure about in North America tho.

One thing that the tig has going for it is it made in the Fatherland. The built in unreliability of the Mexican production plant is skipped.  Haney nailed the styling down that rear end is truncated it looks like the old old crv almost awkward.
It would probably not do well compared to a rav4 v6 because this engine has in practice has pretty good fuel mileage numbers (that would be reality) robust hp and better yet uses regular which can save about 10% in fuel cost.
The option list is quite tasty though. Heated Seats without leather ( this should be
more common), a 6 speed manual (although the 6spauto is very nice, I have driven
it in a bunny), bi xenons (unfortunately only avail. on the highline).
It would probably sell better if it came with the a diesel option but from what I understand
that the new diesels will be hard to come by and I dont think this will be getting any
better as the americans are now starting to buy small cars again. Which will put a
strain on the supply.
This will be just another model for VW overpriced for some but worth it for others
who like the german car experience. This aint no bug sales wise.

I think thats backwards.   If the Americans start buying diesels then we will get diesels. If they don't then VW won't make NA versions of diesels.

This has been covered before, but perhaps the Tig will be as reliable as the Passat, then?
