My dad and I drove one on Thursday.

It felt very soft and floaty, and the steering was too light; the top two things my dad hates. He said he'd rather drive the Odyssey!  Undecided

Wow !... I feel the same floaty-ness when I get out of my 04 Sienna, and get into my 99 Forester. I thought it was due to my Forester's age, and mileage. Didn't expect the same comment on the new Forester.  Wasn't the rear suspension changed to help with that, or was it only to improve rear cargo space?

I guess its the long suspension travel. I'd rather have a firm ride, like the CR-V's. Its too bad the CR-V looks pretty ugly from the front end...and has a slip n' grip AWD system.

All of the vehicles in our family have "firm" rides, compared to vehicles in their class. I guess we are used to it. Our Sienna was horrible...too floaty.

I'm surprised, most reviewers are noting the opposite, citing it as one of the more entertaining rides in segment. Was thinking only the scrappy Rogue and Tiguan are sportier.

Does the XT have a firmer suspension, or are all Foresters the same?

Regardless, think softish is better for the mass market and the new Forester appeals on a great many levels.
