Buying car in US- Fax docs to US Customs? HELP

I understand you need to fax "documentation" to US Customs at least 72 hours in advance to reaching Point of Entry.
RIV doesn't state what docs need to be sent...Does anyone know?
Where do you fax them to?
Can I cross at any POE? I will want to cross at Gananoque in ONtario or Ogdensburg, NY by Prescott, Ontario.

Can anybody share there experiences?

It will be a used 1999 Corvette too.

You must fax the us title to us customs. They must be faxed to the us crossong that you will be coming back on.a bud of mine just imported a 07 vette convertible from Texas with 400 miles on it.

So I strictly only have to fax the Title in beforehand?

They also state something along the lines of having 2 copies of it too....Do they mean photocopies?

Anyone have a number to reach these guys at or firsthand experience?

You fax one copy of the title of the vehicle you are importing to us customs...that,s it! I just imported 2 us vehicles myself personally.

OK here's the dilemma...

I can't get the title until I physcially send this guy a certified cheque and it clears with the bank...
So do I pay him ahead of time before even seeing the car in person?
I want to drive down there and drive it back. it's in Virginia and I'm in Ontario....
Considering US Customs needs it 72 hours in advance what options do I have?
I don't want to be stuck in the US for 72 hours prior to coming across...

I would'nt buy a used car without seeing it first, and although I'm sure the "guy" is legitimate, there is a chance he is not.

To do things sensibly you either have to spend a few days state side and arrange everything, or organise someone/a business you trust to view/inspect the car for you, or alternatively, view the car yourself, arrange all the paperwork, but have someone else (or a shipping company) bring the car back for you.

If you end up incurring extra costs 'cos of any of this I hope the savings still make it all worthwhile - I'm sure they do.

Is there a chance you could view & pay for the car on a Friday, fax the paperwork the same day, enjoy a weekend in the States, and go through the border on Monday ?... or do USA customs need 3 working days to clear the paperwork !

Some border crossings won't accept faxes. Check out the US Order Crossing Info (3rd down I think) from the following URL         carburner.com/index.php?title=Main_Page  . Another good site is  riv.ca/english/html/how_to_import.html
