Definitely wrong timing with high gas prices.

Looked the name up:
The Kia Borrego is named after the Anza-Borrego Desert State Park in California; Borrego means "bighorned sheep" which can be found in the state park.

Let's remember that cars coming out this year have probably been in development for 3+ years.  It's hard to throw that all away because gas prices have gone up (substantially) in the last 6 months.

Vehicle started development 4 years ago. Good companies have to able to predict and prepare to future market conditions (somewhat), or else caught in no-man's wanted land and in serious trouble.

I'm sure it will be just as cheap as the Sorrento I drove. :hurl:

Last time I checked, gas was down 10 cents a litre compared to a week ago.

As the saying goes - I think George Carlin said it in one of his stand up routines - "nail 2 pieces of wood together, and some schmuck will buy it for $1".

I'd buy one of these in a minute if I had a need for an big SUV.  The Sorrento is on my short list already when my Spectra dies, hopefully I can get 5 more years out of it.   ;D

Yep and besides, oil has dropped $25 in just a half-month.  US gas has dropped from $4/gal to near $3/gal in southern states.  Technical analysis shows this is the start of a 50% retracement from the oil highs of early July.  US gas prices nationally could be below $2.50 in the US by the election as the Arabs have strong preferences for this election.

Don't expect Cdn gas prices to drop as much as US gas prices however, because the Cdn dollar is weak (down 13 cents from its peak) and looking to break down along with recently plunging commodity prices.

OPEC is planning to cut oil production and should be done by March of 09. At that time prices should increase again!

The Borrego is a nice SUV. I have yet to see one up front at the dealer as my current gas guzzler is still going strong and does everything I need it to do. Oh, the V8 mileage for the Borrego also isn't that bad. Anything that has a V8, weighs nearly two and a half to three tons and gets around 10L/100km on the highway is a BONUS. My Durango R/T weighs in at 4921lbs with me in it and I average 15-19L/100km. Towing eats another 1-2L/100km. I wouldn't trade it for anything.
