New All Seasons Again for CR-V
« on: July 13, 2008, 06:54:44 pm »
After 4 years of using TripleTred, It is time to get it replace. I want something that is close to TripleTred. But I can't seems to find good comparison in terms of good traction in Snow and Ice covered road. Local Mechanic suggest

A) Toyo Versado LX
B) General Altimax RT
C) Kumho Solus KR21
D) Norkian WR
E) Michelin Harmony
and of course
F) Goodyear TripleTred

Advise anyone?

The Nokian WR's were excellent on my XC90, Rain, shine or snow. Expensive however.

In the last 8 months, I've had both Toyo Versado's and Nokian WRs on my wifes Odyssey.  Both delivered a wickedly harsh ride when equipped on our Odyssey.   The WR's will be sold when the snow flies, and I had the Toyo's removed (Toyo's 30 day satisfaction guarantee) and went back to the OE Michelins that the Odyssey came on.

I have to say the Toyo's were incredibly quiet, perhaps the quietest tire I've ever rolled on, it was the ride on our van that was the deal breaker for me.
Internal combustion thrust I trust

Any reason not to get TT again? The OEM Contis on the Tribute are noisy as hell and not so good in the rain and have been thinking TT.

I like Triple Tred but I am just wondering is there something better than that. Last year remember the crazy snow storms that TO had? I have no problem getting around at all. Not to mention, in the past 4 years I don't even recall my ABS went on with Triple Tred while stopping in snow/ice. I remember the previous B/F Goodrich is like ABS on almost all of my stop. The reason why I want to look for alternative is that it did have problem of balancing. I had to get it balance few times or else you will feel the cars wobbling around. Another reason is road noise, it is better thant B/F Goodrich but still a bit noisy.

Yes, always set as per the tire placard on the drivers door jamb.
