Used Vehicle Review:
Chevrolet Corvette, 1997-2004

Chevrolet Corvette, 1997-2004A strong sports car value, the fifth-generation C5 Corvette has held its looks well and offers terrific performance, says Contributing Editor, Chris Chase.  Reliability varies year-to-year, but one particular minor problem can render the Corvette undriveable, he notes.

A good article and a fair review of the C5 Vette, but one of the best sites out there to learn about the Corvette, is the Corvette Action Center:

CorvetteActionCenter.com

The site is enormous and not just a set of forums like the ones mentioned in the article.

Speaking of used C5 Z06. Saw one for sale from those used car dealers here in the Bay area. Costs 26k USD, and has 37k miles. Don't know if that's cheap or average price, but for a price of a new accord/camry V6 you can get a C5 Z06 instead. Hmmm

I drove a Lingenfelter Z06 from Sudbury to Thunder Bay in 2003. No words can describe those 8 hours.

I would love a C5 Z06.....

Why not get one, they're fairly inexpensive now. That's the great thing about a GM, they depreciate like a rock. You can get a C5Z06 for the same price as a new MazdaSpeed3 or Golf GTI. And if you are willing to travel to the U.S. you can get them even cheaper.

A 99-00 Non-Z-05 Vette is a tremendous performance buy.  Tons of reasonable mods available, and in terms of looks, GM stylists did an amazing job.  Those cars look great today.

Helps if you're a partner in a tire store though...    ;D

Agreed.

Yes, at 295/35-18 in the rear and 265/40-17 front, coupled with 405HP/400 ft-lbs, tires don't last long and it's pricey.

But as I say, "if you want to play, you got to pay"
