Looks like GM's ability to solve it's oversupply of distributorships/brands in the US is correcting itself on it's own:

Surprising it is CHEVY tho - I thought they were the ones doing well?

This story is just a headline grabber IMO.  The devil is in the details.  My guess is that this dealer group was over leveraged before the decline of late and they just got caught in the squeeze.

But this dealer group is the one well known to be crooks, with all kinds of complaints to various government and consumer agencies....seems to me there was a thread on here about them recently.

No big loss, really.

The business is already in trouble with the courts. Might be just a ownership title wash, then back to life in the near future.

I do notice the inventory on the local GM dealership is very low, as compare to Ford & Chrysler. The local Toyota dealership just moved to a new location, and inventory is at least 4 times than before.

because american automakers produce cars only for america.  they are too big, rough, gas guzzling and poorly built.

Ever look at an issue of Consumer Reports? North American brands have been consistently beating Euro brands for reliability for years and by wide margins!

Ford as an example has 41 out of 44 models as average or better. Compare that with VW/Audi or MB for a real eye opener. GM is only marginally behind Ford, and that has to do mostly with the age of some of their models.

You have to remember that the "Euro" Models sold in North America (VW/Audi, MB etc) are not built the same as in EMEA (Europe/Middle East/Asia). NA cars are built by poorly paid Mexican workers who don't care about quality, just quantity. The Ford Focus (00-04) and VW Jetta Gasoline (not Diesel) 01-05 (Yr2000 Jetta's were built in Germany) are two really good examples of the differences in quality/reliability between Euro and NA spec vehicles. not to mention the utterly pointless modifications done to these vehicles (Rear Red Turn signals, keys in the case of Ford) . This is the reason that NA can sell cars cheaper than in Europe is because they "cheapen" them, IMO.

VW Eos average (Portugal)
VW GTI worse than average (Germany)
VW Jetta average (Mexico)
VW New Beetle much worse than average (Mexico)
VW Passat much worse than average (Germany)
VW Rabbit above average (Germany)
VW Tourag much worse than average (Slovakia)

Based on Consumer Reports, there is no trend regarding German versus Mexican built cars. Your premise is flawed.

Thank you, Big T.  Love the noobs that come in here, and act like we have no clue.  This forum has a long history, and so do many of its participants.  A little respect is in order.
