If any other brand sold a FWD sedan at this price point, particularly a performance model (Type-S), they'd be torn to pieces for it.

I am a HUGE fan of the TL. It looks great inside and out, powerful, etc. Its just the FWD drivetrain...too much power to the front wheels.

I don't mind the TSX having FWD, since it only has about 200 HP and zero torque.

My Saab has a lot or torque when you punch it (which as I have said before, I like it).

How is the TL when you hammer it, can anyone chime in?

The older Nissan Maxima was kinda like a competitor for the TL, maybe even the I35.

Tested drove one with dad in 2002 when he was car shopping, overall nice vehicle. But some little things in the interior make it short of a 'luxury' car, stalks and controls similar to that of a Civic. We ended up with an Infiniti I35 Sport.

How is the TL when you hammer it, can anyone chime in?

When you punch it you get that little lag before the revs get up and then she goes, but torque steer is prevalent.. its the only thing I don't like about the car

That's something I've noticed with Acura, too. No matter how expensive the car is - it's particularly notable in the RL - there are a few too many bits and pieces and elements of the interior's look and feel that can be traced back to a Civic.

Yeh but that's only good if you are buying a Civic....

FWIW, my dad's (now gone) Audi A6 used to have some interior bits from Volkswagen models too... IMO it's just inevitable cost-cutting...

While we're on this topic, the A6 seems to be a pretty good competitor to a TL on the used market... I personally would have a hard time picking between those 2...

True enough, but I think VW's interior bits are just nice enough for use in a high-end car. The Civic has a great interior for an economy car, but it doesn't necessarily translate into the luxury market.

In terms of equipment, the A6 is a good competitor for the TL, but the Audi was more expensive new, and hangs onto its value better, too.
