Where to buy Contiviking Contact 3's?
« on: June 16, 2008, 10:33:40 am »
I bought a set of these last year and they were GREAT.  Bad potholes resulted in a sidewall bubble on 1 so it will need to be replaced.  My concern is that 1010Tires shows them as discontinued and I can't seem to find them anywhere.  ALthough I know it is "out of season", I just want to make sure I can replace the bad tire.  I don't need to buy one today, just to know where to go to get one in October.

If anyone knows where these could be found, it would be appreciated?

Those tires are discontinued?  CRAP!!  I sold the set I had with the Mercedes, planning on buying a new set for the 'Rolla.  They are a teriffic snow tire.  Hope they are only out for the season...
No place I'd rather be...

Not discontinued as far as I understand. Just that the distribution of this tire will be through new channels this fall. The previous distributor had a Canadian exclusive, but is now bankrupt. It is yet to be determined who will handle this tire in the future. Stay tuned....

I guess I have been "censored" by big brother somehow?!!?   ???

I posted a reply to this thread, basically saying what Morty said, but it seems to have been deleted!  Was it because I mentioned the competition's website?  I hope not so because that would be disappointing. >:(

P.S.  either way I hope Tire Trends carries these this year because, censorship aside, I would rather buy from them...  ;D

225-45/17

I have a bubble in one tire and a screw in another.  I might be able to get the screw patched but the tire is in storage at the moment so I'm unsure until I can bring it in.

Woah they are Q rated. How is the handling? With the funky tread I would have thought they were a H or V tire.

Way too sticky to be H or V.  Those super-soft winter compounds can't get a higher speed rating.

I thought it was the sidewall construction? Anyhow how do they handle? Acceptable in winter in the dry?

I have them on my BMW 328i in the winter and they handle very well.  Extremely quiet (quieter than my Continental summer tires) and they seem to have very good stability.  Turn in is OK and the highway stability is very good too.  I often forget I am driving on Q rated winters.  Having said that, my comments do take into account they are true winter tires... if you expect summer tire performance then they ain't it.  But they are far and away the very best true winter snow and ice tire I have ever used.  I drove my RWD car last winter through every type of winter weather imaginable and never had one problem.  Didn't get stuck once, never had any control issues... very, very highly recommended.

We will have the ContiViking line up for the 2008/09 winter season. We have updated our site to include the product and pricing. This tire has gotten excellent reviews and we are excited to partner with Continental Tire Canada to carry this tire.

That's great to hear Morty.

I can see them if I follow your link but if I go to the TireTrends website and to Continental tires, I can't find them.  Is the website having problems?

Good. I see them on the site this morning.
