I disagree entirely.  Price of gas will HELP the Flex's sales.  People are bailing out of Tahoes and Yukons and Sequoias as "family haulers," and looking for crossovers and minivans to fit the bill.

:iagree:  Not everyone driving a Tahoe or Pilot needs one, but many people that buy those vehicles do need space.  With the price of gas rising, those buyers will be looking into vehicles like the Flex to replace their current rides...

IMO the people that buy Tahoes etc. because they love SUVs are stupid enough to keep buying them.  Point in case: one of my buddies drives a RAM 1500 that gets abysmal fuel mileage.  I tell him he should buy something decent on gas, and he laughs: he would honestly rather drive a big truck and have no money than drive an efficient car and have cash on hand.  ???  Maybe when gas hits $2.00/L he'll clue in...

I seriously doubt that Ford will actually market this as a minivan'ish vehicle. It's a cross over, whatever that is  ::)
Why do they put Braille on the drive-through bank machines?

I was reading in another article about the possibility of cannibalization within the brand - the Freestyle/Taurus X overlap and appear to share much of the same underbody structure, the X already being a handsome and generally successful vehicle, especially since the engine upgrade.

The same, yet different.  Lease and Finance incentives could prove a deciding factor....

I'm a fan of the Ford new-styling evolution - certainly won't be confused with anything else on the road, attractive or no.

I believe the Taurus X is being fazed out , not sure how long Ford will keep producing it.
