Do that with the E30.  Send her to the mall to buy herself some new shows, and when she comes home have the E30 in your garage.  It's a good plan.  DO IT!!   ;D
How fast is my Supra?  I sh*t on Cessnas from a roll....

But then where do I park the Spectra?
Talked to my cousin about co-ownership with the E30, turn it into a joint project car.
$750 is doable right now, expecialy if he stores it at his place, or even where he works..............

I have seen a few Astro Vans that have been converted with a V8 crate engine. They move along very well indeed and are not all that hard to do actually. A small block will fit in there quite nicely  :)

I'm sure your wife likes the house and with the kids she won't mind not having you around - that is if you decide to opt for the car. ;D

And since the money is a big deal to her and since you don't have a garage to store it, I would tell your cousin to buy it if it's that good and later when the timing/mood/viagra/money/lawyer and stars have all lined up, you will buy it from him. ::)

Concentrate on new house first with big garage and then get son and daughter interested in cars so that you have family project!  :rofl2:

10 years from now, the E30s will still run, and lotsa of them around.

Already have a double garage - both spots are taken - I could park one car outside, but I HATE scraping when it's cold, and baking when it's hot, whine, whine.
I've been spoiled with a garge door opener - get into the car, open the garage with remote, drive out......
My cousin likes the idea of co-ownership, if it flies, that's exactly what I'll do - build it up with him, and buy out his share when my Spectra dies.  ;D

The plot thickens......

Quote
The BMW 318is has 293K. Stick, with decent body, little rust, but could use a few hundred thrown at it, just to make it clean. Runs. Guy wants $1000. Talked to the guy for a minute or so, but left as I didn't want to seem to eager. I have a 3.5 six-banger from a 735 (208 hp) that will JUST fit under the hood if I take out the A/C and put in electric fans. HMMMMM? Can you say "track day"?

geez, my couz is REALLY making this hard to pass up....

$1000 is decent buy. I would buy it just for parts alone.

Putting a 3.5L would kill the balance of an E30, the oem setup of suspension, brakes is meant for a small i4, even putting a 2.5L M20 in a 318 chasis requires mods & tweaking to make the car driving right.

Personally I'd keep it stock as well.  Sometimes he's a bit wacky with his ideas...... :P
At $1000, it's almost a done deal.

Lovely kids. Should opt for a minivan.  :)

Yes, beautiful family. Noooo!, he should get the toy! :)

That's not a lot of money.... but only advice I'd give is, make sure it's a model you love and really want. (So you don't look at other BMWs later and say, "Gee, I coulda got that [other model] for X amount of dollars.....)

Good advice - everyitme I see an E39 I drool....saw a 530 the other day with the M-spec body kit.  YUM!
Here's the latest response form my cuz....

if i quickly get rid of my cavalier, i'm gonna get it. it think and dump the 3.5 in it.
By the way, the E30 came to north america in 1984 and remained until 1992, but only as a 2-door and convertible. In 1992 the E36 came, but only as a 4-door and in 1993 as 2 door and convertible. The E30 and E36 came with BOTH 4 and 6 cylinder engines. The E30 had an 8-valve 1.8 4-cyl in 84-85, a 2.7 ETA 6-cyl in 85-88 and the 2.5 6-cyl from 87-91 and a 16-valve 1.8 4 cyl in 90-91. The E30 M3 had a 2.3 4-cyl for north america. just for the record.

Looks like I get to save my marriage after all.  ;D :-*

I love E30s. Driven over 400,000Kms in E30s.

A few years back, had a chance to purchase an E30 M3 EVO II, with the 220HP engine, in mint condition, asking price was $18,000.

The E30 M3 convertible and the EVO III are very desirable cars for me, ... and a few others as well.

Still love the 2 I have, just don't have too much time for driving them nowadays, which is a shame.  :-[ :-[

A shame - I'm looking for reasons to go out, after replacing the rims/rubber on my daily driver - 2002 Kia Spectra GSX, it's a different animal now - can't wait to instal a set of Eiback springs.
Hmm, maybe I'll drive my gargbage down to the dump instead of waiting for pick-up, it's only an hour away....  ;D
