I hate the auto AC on defrost. The Vibe is mechanically interlocked so you can't pick defrost and recirc just to add to the agravation.

When scraping the windshield I prefer to turn recirc on and set the air flow to windshield. By the time I'm finished with the windows, the air is warm enough to keep the windshield clear. With the AC running, it takes much longer to get the interior warm. If outside air is used, the car is much slower to warm up, and if snow gets into the air intake the windows really fog when the heater core starts to warm up.
