Test Drive:
2008 Ford Sport Trac Adrenalin

2008 Ford Sport Trac AdrenalinThe stylish new Ford Sport Trac Adrenalin is aimed at "urban dwellers and sport truck enthusiasts," says Managing Editor, Grant Yoxon.  Unlike the regular Sport Trac, the Adrenalin's AWD is "fully automatic and does not have a Low range," he reports.

"The Adrenalin's street truck styling will appeal to urban buyers looking for a unique alternative, "
"Power for the Adrenalin comes from Ford's 4.6-litre, 24-valve V8. With 292 horsepower and 300 lb-ft of torque, there is plenty of power to move this 2,190 kg (4,830 lb.) bad boy along. Naturally, the V8 has a thirst for fuel. I recorded 16.4 litres/100 km over three tanks of fuel in mostly city driving. "

2 tons and 17mpg for urban dwellers with gas prices as they are?    And it is not even a real truck with a real bed. Oh well, there's nowt so strange as folk.

Can't believe how short sighted people are. It's as if the energy shocks of the 1970s and 80s never happened.

1. Buy fuel hog. Just like everyone else.
2. Buy 3000sq ft house 2 hours from work. Just like everyone else.
3. and moan when fuel prices climb. Just like everyone else.
4. Sell gas hog for something cheaper to run. Just like everyone else.
5. and moan that re-sale is so low on $40k truck. Just like everyone else.

Perfect Smiley

Soon enough a slightly used 4x4 truck will be worth next to nothing, I can snap one up as a tow vehicle and sell my Mazda3 because it will be in high demand Smiley

I love this part:

Quote
Frustrated and unable to afford prices at the pump, Nizami last month turned over the Toyota to a dealer who only sells vehicles from private owners. Nizami is still paying the $450 loan but now is bumming rides to work with a cousin and worrying about making enough from the sale to cover the car loan.

"I didn't think gas would shoot up this much. I'm willing to take a hit just to take the pressure off,"

So this guy is still paying $450 a month for a vehicle he doesn't drive and sounds like he is willing to lose thousands to dump it. All because a fuel fill increased by $15?

Is this really a "gas price" issue or just a typical "idiot buying more car than he can afford" issue?

Indeed. He should be embarrassed that he is in the story! Buys SUV at height of popularity and wants to sell at lowest of popularity to buy a small fuel efficient car as it is peaking in popularity. Yep, buy high & sell low - a financial guru  Bang
