New Brake Package for the IS300!
« on: April 30, 2008, 08:59:31 pm »
Import Queen needed some new brakes.  So she went with DBA Series 4000 slotted rotors with Hawk HPS pads all around. DBA (Disc Brakes Australia) are pretty highly regarded and have a few unique features.  Some Supra owners are really liking these, so we thought they would be a good upgrade for the IS.  I'll take some pics after I get them on.

Here's a vid on the rotors:  http://www.dba.com.au/2006/products_4000.asp
How fast is my Supra?  I sh*t on Cessnas from a roll....

Nope.  We looked at all that was available and read together on the forums.  Hawk Pads were the easy choice.  Rotors came down to Brembo OEMs, Baer, and DBA.  I liked the Baers, she liked the DBA.  It was her car and her money, so she went with what she wanted.

Now that I have them on...this is a good upgrade over stock.  The Hawk pads are a great street performance pad, and these rotors should take anything that's thrown on them on the street...or light track lapping duty.  Overall I'm really impressed with the rotors/pad combo.

**Update**

I just gave the car back to her and she just called me on the phone saying "Holy (expletive)!!  These brakes are SOO much stronger than stock.  I can't believe how hard they yank the car down from speed".  So she seems very happy....

Total cost for 4 slotted rotors with Hawk HPS all around with shipping was $675 USD.

That seems quite reasonable to me. How long did it take to change them all over?
A subwoofer should only be noticed once it has been turned off.

30-40 minutes a corner, taking my time..  Fronts are only 4 bolts....(2) 14mm, (2) 17mm.  Each pad has 2 anti-squeal plates PLUS anti-squeal springs.
