My 2009 Corolla XRS

A few have already asked in another thread about some pictures so now that I finally have the vehicle...



Magnetic Grey Metallic is the colour.  Its only gone 30km so don't ask too much about the handling or power yet.

If you get a chance please post some side shots, 3/4 shots, rear shots, interior shots etc. I spent a fair bit of time driving my parent's new 2009 Corolla LE and started to get used to the woodgrain in the interior (I guess everything 1970s is coming back ;D). I assume that there is some kind of stainless steel sort of treatment in the interior?

Are you driving the auto or manual? How is the torque on that motor? How is your milleage? I think Toyota did really well putting this mill in the XRS. The Yamaha mill they were using in the older XRS had to be wound really high to get the power out and I read so-so reliability reports. The 2.4L engine on the other hand is a well proven unit. The larger engine with decent torque should work great in a North American driving environment.

I don't like the overall look of the new XRS in most colors, but in that it's quite nice.

Does anyone know if the TRD Supercharger from the Scion tC would fit a Corolla XRS?  Same engine, I think.  Then you'd have a little more "go" to supplement the XRS's very-obvious "show."

Mitlov: I've heard rumors that there will be some sort of TRD based supercharger for this engine.  Its basically the same as I understand it but I guess there may be some concessions or they just have to certify...I don't know really.  I'd consider it after doing some reading.

Zoo: I'm plotting a proper photoshoot at some point soon.  I have a good digital camera and perhaps a little photoshopping on a few shots will be in order.  I'll try and get some of those kinds of shots you were asking about as well.

I haven't really pushed the engine much...its only gone a very short distance 40km on the odo so I haven't had a proper chance to get it going but based on my test drive the engine is very good at getting up to speed.  The 2.4L is more of a refined choice than the old Yamaha engine which apparently the enthusiasts really loved but not too many other people.  The XRS more competes with the Mazda3 GT than with a Civic Si or Mazdaspeed3...on pricing too.  I tried the 1.8L but I liked the 2.4Ls extra punch and lower highway revs.  It accelerates pretty effortlessly with a light foot.  Its an auto...don't know stick and never had a chance to try it out so it'll be auto for me.

I'm not a fan of the short gun-slit windows but I gotta admit, that XRS looks mighty fine. :thumbup: Nice choice, great color too.

:iagree:  Fantastic colour.  The new Corolla is miles ahead of the old one in looks...  it looks nice enough in photos I might even have to see it in person.  And I haven't been on a Toyota lot in years, usually they're  :sleep:.

Magnetic Grey is a pretty neat colour. This car looks quite good. Its not a pocket rocket but you'll like that smooth engine.  :thumbup:
