APA site has updated warranty information
« on: April 08, 2008, 05:22:52 am »
The APA site  www.apa.ca   is showing new info the policy of the various manufacturers regarding warranty coverage for US imports. I see a couple of major changes....Hyundai is now listed as "no coverage for new vehicles imported from the US" (I'm guessing preowned are still covered?)  and Nissan is now listed as simply "no warranty"....I wondered about Nissan as I looked at the Nissan.ca site the other day and all the rebates for cash purchase seem to be gone......and the price of an 09 SL Murano is about 12K higher now in Canada than the US! :o  >:( )
My first ever GM ownership experience  can best be described as   "Fool me once...."

Interestingly enough,Infiniti is still shown as "full warrany coverage".

I have to agree regarding Nissan. We've bought 4 new Nissans in the past 9 years (and influenced family members in the purchase of 2 more). With that kind of arrogant attitude I'd say "we're done....lots of other choices out there"

Hello. Full Disclosure I am a salesman and after double checking with Nissan Canada and my service manager I can tell you we have no knowledge of this change in warranty coverage and we would hear about it first.

If I find out different I will post.

Cheers

^^^ Welcome to the forum and thanks for the honesty up front. Hopefully you will get us the scoop on what is going on.

When I phoned Nissan Canada a couple of months ago they were very clear that Nissan is a no, but Infiniti warranties would be honoured

Before the update the APA was listing Nissan as partial warranty (no on new cars but yes if car had been in service for at least 6 months in the US)

The vehicle has to be registered in the U.S first or the warranty will not be honoured in Canada.

If the vehicle is registered in the U.S and then sold within 6 months in Canada then the warranty will not be honoured.

Ah....So it seems APA has changed the way they list Nissan's warranty policy but the actual details are unchanged from the way it was last year.

Just wondering why Infiniti would offer full warranty and Nissan has some caveats....aren't they the same company? :-\

That's a good point. Honda/Acura are the same (no warranty) and Toyota/Lexus are also the same (full coverage). It seems strange that Nissan/Infiniti are not in sync.
