Your boss? (Hi Mitlov!)

Ebay - no (unless it was brand new and a hard to get car)
Auction - no, too easy to get caught up in bidding
Curbsider - no, don't trust em
Boss - absolutely, stand-up guy, I'd buy anything he's selling (almost)

Our neighbours bought their BMW from eBay and had no problems with the process.  I would consider it, but it would be my last resort.  I think I'd sooner go through a broker who would find the car and get it for me, then do the whole ebay thing myself.

Auction, only if I were looking for a particular vehicle.  I think the only thing I would buy at auction would be a) something I knew was coming to auction, or b) an ex-government vehicle, if I was for some reason interested in one of those.

I'd by from my boss, but be very wary of buying from a curbsider.  But with proper footwork, and a mechanical and title check, no reason why not.

eBay - Sure, if it's a good deal.

auction - Not likely, it feels like more of a crapshoot than eBay.

curbsider - Not if I know it's a curbsider.

boss - Yes.

None.

I wouldn't have any qualms buying from my boss, but not until I am related as an employer/employee status.

I maintain strict separation between family/friends/co-workers and money transactions, as much as possible.

I guess I should answer myself

eBay: Yes, with appropriate due diligence.
Auction: don't have the skills nor contacts.
Curbsider: would put me off.
Boss: only if it was a hard to find car, no need to intertwine car with career.

AFAIK, curbing cars is not legal. Anyone that considers buying from a curber needs to realize that from that point on they have no right to open their mouth regarding any consumer protection issue. It's like somebody buying speakers out of a guy's trunk in a parkng lot and then complaining when their house gets broken into.

Curbsiders are not just another car buying source to consider.

You should add repodepo to your list of questions.
I'd buy from there before buying from a curbsider.

EBay?  NO frickin way
Direct from auction?  Perhaps... if it was a Barrett - Jackson auction.
Curbsider? Probably not.
Your boss? Most likely.
