Here she is.  A 2009 Corolla with the "C" or "Enhanced" package.  This includes AC and cabin filter, tire pressure monitoring, cruise control, power windows, power locks with keyless and power mirrors.  As both of us will be driving the car and to enhance resale, it's an AT.  The colour is magnetic grey.  Kinda lcassy for an econo-sedan.

$20,085 including all taxes/fees etc and the rubber floor mats.  As you can see, I also opted for the Toyota roof rack.  This way if I take the Scoob to the mountains, the missus can still take the Toyota skiing.

John,

How did you get a price of around $20,000 flat for this car.  I priced it out before I bought the Yaris and it was around $22,000 with tax and freight.  Thats at the MRSP price.
How did you manage to cut them down almost $2,000?

By living in Alberta.  The GST-in price was $20,700.  I only got them down ~$700.
No place I'd rather be...

My dear old Mom had to have her '94 'Rolla serviced last week. When I dropped her off at Vernon Toyota, I decided to have a look at an XRS sitting in the showroom. Kinda nice-looking, interior seemed high quality but the price was a shocker at just under 23 large. :o Then I had a look at the Yaris RS 5-door beside it - over $21,000!  ??? :o :o :o

Not bad at all. A new Mazda 3 Sport GT is about the same price as the XRS. But a Yaris for that much?!

I'd guess the Yaris price has not been 'adjusted' yet, there is no 2009 model on the website.

Change the Corolla from 2008 to 2009 and the price drops by up to 2 grand, right at the start.

There's also been an anouncement that (in the States, at least) all 2009 Yari will have ABS and side airbags standard.

Its the same price for a top end Civic EX-L or a Mazda3 GT.  It matches each of those almost feature for feature and with the Mazda3 GT it actually has a slightly more powerful/torquey engine in comparison.

Time for me to eat some crow. :P  See my comment in the Buying, Selling & Leasing thread:

Compared to that, the Corolla's a killer deal.

Is it just me or does the tail light treatment resemble the TSX?

personally, I think the previous generation Corolla's front end looks better

The $23,000...I mentioned that on this forum when I bought my XRS and everyone around here was somehow shocked.  No idea why.  Look at a top level Civic, Mazda3, Sentra, <insert top level of small car here> and the prices are all similar.  Cross shop the Mazda 3 GT with a 2.3L engine versus the XRS with its 2.4L and you have two very interesting cars to compare with pros and cons but the prices are similar...actually the Mazda3 is a tad more expensive if you opt for the highest level available and you want the Mazda3 Sport (hatchback).

Feature for feature the price is appropriate.  Now...for the Yars RS at $21,000 I'm not sure if it compares as favorably with the new Fit Sport.  I suspect that the next iteration of the Yaris will be able to justify the top level price for the top model.
