Springs and Struts for '99 Saab 9-3
« on: March 06, 2008, 05:28:03 pm »
Evening all,

I'm the proud owner of a '99 Saab 9-3 that I've decided to keep indefinitely rather than making a trip to the local dealer to find a new ride.  Like many of you I'm a bit of an enthusiast and always look to better the performance of my 'ride' when it comes time to replace the original parts.

It's time for me to replace the springs and struts and I'm curious to know if there are other Saab owners on this forum that have done so and their feed back on the parts used.  I would like to go with an after market system like the HR springs paired up with Boge / Eibach struts.  It wouldn't hurt to lower the car an inch or two and get some sportier performance.

Any feed back would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

Mitchell

Hmmmm....surely there must be some "Saab" aftermarket tuning company...if not here, then overseas?  Bilsteins are great if they make them for your application.  I'm not fond of H&R springs, personally..but that's me.
How fast is my Supra?  I sh*t on Cessnas from a roll....

My 9-3 is a year 2000 and I have no intention of replacing it as long as I can keep it running.
Best info for modding a SAAB can be found on the SAAB forums - they say it's the car most discussed on the web.
I can recommend saabnet.com and saabcentral.com.
About shops and mechanics -it depends on your location. In general, there are good indy mechanics around. Most SAAB dealers are actually Saturn dealers who happen to sell SAABs and should be avoided for repair work.
