Hahaha, that's funny right there.

First of all, don't touch any fluids until you speak with the dealer.  If the dealer finds out you changed the fluid, they'll just blame you for using an "improper fill."  If they deny a warranty claim, then change the fluid and see if it helps.  "Lose all gearing on an incline" - could that point to a fluid pump failure?

Alright here is how it goes.  Last Friday I purchased a 2004 Ford Focus wagon from a dealer who purchased it at auction the night before.  I test drove it for an hour, highway and street... no noises or problems arose.  All fluids were brand new (clean).

Two days ago there was a slight hesitation between gears on the automatic tranny, emphasis on slight.  Tonight, the transmition jumps into gear (VERY rough) and I lose all gearing on an incline.  Less than a week and less than 140 kms after purchase I am stuck in my apartment parking lot.

Do I have any recourse?  What can I do?

Ask Ford regarding - Powertrain Warranty: 5 years/100,000 km

To clarify this; the car has 137,000kms on it, I paid $5,500.

Are you getting any warning lights such as "check engine" etc?

Take it to a Ford service centre and have a diagnostics test done.

Could be shift solenoid malfunction
