Yup that should work, although in some cars the coolant in the reservoir doesn't circulate much.  If the service guy okayed it, you might have the same system as in the Escape where the reservoir is basically the top of the radiator (and thus drains along with the radiator through the drain hole).  If not, you may be better off draining that much fluid from the radiator and re-adding.

Thats probably a better option, actually.

Thanks for the oh-so-valuable advice.  So much for soliciting advice for a money-saving, character-building DIY job.  Thanks to the rest of you who actually WERE helpful.  Saf, you are annoying as hell and contribute next to nothing to this forum.

...can we have a treatise on AIR in TYRES.......

So, how often do you change the air in your tires? ???

Are you using the correct seasonal air?

Since I store my car over the winter I just leave the summer air in the tires all year round. ;)

To err is human, to blame it on someone else is even more human.

Agree with him or me?  If me... what about saving $50 do you not understand? If it were the brakes, that's a different story, but coolant will do its job whether its a 60/40 or a 50/50 mix... I just want to correct a symptom of a design flaw by Mazda by doing some quick math and getting things right, without paying some $9.00/hr slob to make a mess of the interior and exterior of the car and force me to wait 3 hours for him to do it!
