Heat - Lawn Mower Sound
« on: February 06, 2008, 04:59:20 pm »
My heat in my car is making a lawn mower sound on speed 1. Speeds 2-4 are fine. I assumed it was a fan that made this sound but wouldn't that mean all 4 speeds would make this sound?

Not necessarily.  It's hard to believe that the fan is gone in a 2006. Was the radio on ?  :)

Does your car use a speed-control module or just a standard resistor pack?  I can't see a resistor pack making a sound like that but I'm not sure what exactly comprises a "speed-control module".  If it has a relay somewhere it could be rapidly cycling.

Unusal but possible for the motor to go as the end bearing may have gone dry already. Its not a reg habit but does happen on occasion to some of the motors in some cars.  :)

Well we talking about a Pontiac now

What is a dealers obligation here for fixing this under warranty? I have a feeling they will say something like “It isn't that bad” The heat still works,  I think 2 of the 4 speeds make the noise. The noise gets noticeably louder when I turn the heat off. I'm not sure if the a/c does it or not. Haven't tried it.

If its under warranty then they should and probably will replace it under the warranty terms. They like happy customers as well and should have No problem changing it out for you at all.  :)
