You're such a classy guy! You must bring sunshine and joy to the live of everyone you meet. A lot more classy than taking a Private Message and posting it to the forum, especially when it was aimed only at one person to wind them up even more. I have born and bred relatives in the UK and OZ, but its not something I would want him to know. It seems people can't seperate something personal from business. Shopping where it is cheapest is pure business. He can't seem to comprehend that, as easy as it is to understand. He must be biased for some reason....vested interests I guess. But just to wind him up some more (this works every time)... Swish Facto AT30, a commercial water based degreaser...first rate stuff...head office in Peterborough, Ontario...product of Canada. At a Swish store in Canada $96.93 (I might get $10 off). At a Swish store in the USA: $73.25, but quoted me $67 on the phone. When I got to the store it was $55 without even asking for a further discount. Bought two 20 liter pails and saved...lots. BMW battery at a dealer in Canada $230, same battery in the US is discounted $104.41. Thanks, but I'll pocket that $125.59 difference while laughing all the way to the bank. Honda part for my car at a dealer in Canada about $170, same part in the US $85.35. Thanks again! And those are just a few of some great deals, but I'll stop right there as I don't want Jcon to jump off a bridge. |

Canada needs to pass tough legislation to prevent Toyota, Honda, and Nissan from dumping their fifteen year old right hand drive cars here. These right hand drive vehicles are dangerous for other drivers on our roads. In addition their old dated engines are causing more pollution than newer cars.
As far as I know Japan does not allow its citizens to drive cars that are older than ten years so why are they dumping them here?
Dumbest thing I'd ever heard... They are not dumping anything here, WE are importing them because they don't sell cars that cool here. The Skylines we import have nothing to do with Nissan, people here just want them. And dated engines? That is ridiculous, the engine in the Skyline has a lot more technology than a lot of the engines Honda, Toyota and GM are selling today. What a ridiculous argument. |

Maybe I'm Naive but looks like simple math to me. US sales on a popular model (Honda Civic ie) are somewhere between 4 or 6 sold there to 1 here. There's a much larger market their of course and they sell less here, to my eyes they charge more here to cover the shortfall in numbers to achieve their global profit margin ( if i was the head honcho I would too ). Yes the dollar is on par right now, (and yes they are pocketing the diffence and I would too ) and yes the same cars are built in the same factory with the same parts; but at the end of the day it's just business. More power to those going stateside and getting their dream rides, I think it's a consumer's decison to make a choice where they spend their dollar and which flag it bears. Car companies are just trying to make money like everyone else. Will it change with equal pricing...no....will I lose sleep over it.. no.. It is what is it is... |

Some, but not all, of the US/Canada price differential is the result of the higher cost of doing business in Canada. Wages are slightly higher, taxes (personal and business) are a lot higher, our stressed out state medical system adds another whack of costs. One of the reasons for higher taxes is that Canada has a higher ratio of civil servants per 1 million population - can't recall the exact numbers. However even with all that factored into the price there is no excuse for 25% differentials. I refused to buy a 2007 Buick Enclave for this reason.
My dealer calls almost monthly with specials on used Enclaves out of the US. They are mostly rental fleet cars that have 10-12000 miles. No thanks! |

That's a load of crap. We get gouged for vehicles that are made in Canada...and the USA gets a price break. Take the Lexus RX. Made in Canada. Our cost? $44,350 Cost in USA $37,700. A 15% markup...even when our dollar was stronger... |

Good luck on raising prices. Demand is falling off fast. Most manufacturers either did not lower prices, or lowered them a small amount with Canadians still paying a significant premium. (Subaru...) |

Our banks are watching deposits rise thanks to the recent report that our system is the most stable. So, there must be a demand for CDN$. Odd that the price is dropping so rapidly. Wonder if people are using USD$ accounts located in Canuck banks? |

For most traders in world foreign exchange markets the CDN$ is a petro dollar. With oil down $60 from it's high it's not surprising to see our dollar drop. |
