Toyota Canada drops MSRP's
« on: February 01, 2008, 06:09:18 am »
Toyota has full page ads in this morning's paper touting "Toyota Lower Price Philosophy". Says that "the ongoing strength of the Canadian dollar allows us to convert incentives into new Manufacturer's Suggested Retail Prices".

Their web page has the details.....doesn't look like that much of a big deal to me...Highlander dropped about $2700.  On the other hand dropping MSRP's instead of having Cash incentives seems to suggest that they see the dollar staying high.

Now that they're "offering customers the best possible value" I'm SURE that they won't have any issue with their US dealers selling to Canadians ;)
My first ever GM ownership experience  can best be described as   "Fool me once...."

Noticed a similar Lexus ad in this morning's Ottawa Citizen.

2009 RX350 drops to $44,350 from $51,550.  Not bad at all.   :o

Not bad at all but they still have room to drop further.  It's like what Judge Judy says... "Don't pee on my leg and tell me it's raining."  It seems the dealers have been doing alot of that.  I went into Honda and the sales guy says "oh yeah there are incentives but not on the model you want... only the base model with no options".  WTF?  Yeah discount the vehicles no one wants to get consumers in the showroom and talk them into buying a different model with no incentives.  No... I'm not bitter at all..... :)

This is the ad on their site...

Wing remove the ad if you have to.

I thought Toyota had a $4000 incentive on the new Highlander (saw a few adds) so dropping the MSRP only by $2700 is disappointing.

The RX350 MSRP drop, if true, is great news. However the CA website is very inconsistent right now. The vehicle build tool has a starting price of $48050 and no option packages are available!?! Probably being updated now.

That might entice Nissan to revise the New Murano pricing already...

That incentive finished in December. It went down a lot in the new year.

Didn't know, thanks. I think the auto companies still want more reassurance about our dollar remaining strong for the long term before making big moves.

The one good thing this does, is that it removes the line from the Toyota dealers, "We've already discounted the vehicle $4000, so we can't do any more." Now, this is where the negotiating STARTS not finishes.

The other good thing is the Finance or Lease rates are available with the lower selling price.

Our highlander is still about $5000 inflated..  but props to Toyota for lowering MSRP and not just doing short term incentives.

Model          = Old MSRP     = New MSRP     = Reduction

Toyota

Yaris Hatch    = $13,915      = $13,165      = $750

Yaris 4-Door   = $14,695      = $13,945      = $750

FJ Cruiser     = $30,725      = $29,725      = $1,000

Highlander Hybrid             = $42,825      = $41,075      = $1,750

Avalon         = $41,840      = $39,840      = $2,000

RAV4           = $29,400      = $27,400      = $2,000

4Runner        = $40,580      = $38,560      = $2,020

Tacoma         = $22,760      = $20,470      = $2,290

Sienna         = $31,750      = $29,400      = $2,350

Highlander     = $39,650      = $36,900      = $2,750

Lexus

ES series      = $42,900      = $39,900      = $3,000

IS series (manual)            = $36,550      = $31,900      = $4,650

LS series      = $92,400      = $85,800      = $6,600

SC series      = $93,250      = $86,100      = $7,150

RX series (’09)                  NA          = $44,350      = $7,200

GX series      = $76,600      = $68,500      = $8,100

I'm now comparing to the AWD and trying to figure out what more do you get for the $37,600 price (+5,700) tag.

If I can live without a wagon I'm might get this next year.

Agree -- if they'd go down to maybe $32K on a 4Runner, they'd be getting close to what the model sells for in the US.

Also, what happened to the Corolla, Matrix and Camry in this Festival of the Canadian Customer?

The new Corolla and Matrix is coming next month, so they will automatically come with new MSRPs.

This should also put pressure on the other imports.

Fack I can't get over some of the reductions!

Means with EcoAuto, a Yaris is $12,000.

RX for $44? IS for $31,9?!!  :o :o :o!!! For a Lexus that's insane!

Toyota is flexing some muscle and crushing the competition here.
AQUAMAN64 also posts on BDFD.com!

Pretty tough to ignore that price.
