DRLs have nothing to do with it.  Car designers are making turn signals too small and too close to the headlights, all for the sake of aesthetics.  And then applying a band-aid by switching off headlights when turn signals are on.

After dark to-night i passed a new Dodge truck which was making a left turn. I passed safely on the inside of him and noticed his left front headlight was turned off while his turn signal was flashing. I very quickly lost sight of that side of his vehicle as I went away from him in my mirror.  His Lighting was greatly reduced because of this for me in my mirror. I don't like that idea at all myself.  :)

I think it would be interesting to find out if the new Dodges are  involved in more accidents than the previous non turn of the headlights models, over say a set period of time. :)

The Jeep Grand Cherokee's DRLs are blinding!

Start high-beaming them.  Not constant-on to blind them, just a flash to give them a heads up.  I keep telling my truck-driving friends that badly aimed lights and fog lights in general blind you poor Civic drivers, but most of them don't believe me because no one flashes their high beams at them.

Maybe the Civic drivers are afraid of getting a ticket for flashing their headlights

Its not just a Dodge thing.

I saw a new(er) Audi do this today.  I am not familiar with the Audi lineup, but it was a model with the row of white LED DRL's.

It was at a light turning left, with the signal yellow light flashing, and the DRL LEDs were turned off on that side.
