Wow...I wonder why Honda/Acura has fewer than Toyota? Hmmm..could it be because they have 14 models TOTAL?? Toyota/Lex/Scion has what, at least 25+ models..... You must REALLY think GM is overdoing it then..I mean they offer 34 such models......(but is that a surprise given they have 90+ vehicles to choose from?) Ok..end of sarcasm-laced reply.....

There are 3 Scions, 15 Toyotas, and 8 Lexii by my count, so 24. 5 / 14 = 35%. 14 / 24 = 58%. You must REALLY think GM is overdoing it then..I mean they offer 34 such models......(but is that a surprise given they have 90+ vehicles to choose from?) I never recall saying that GM was a good business model. Did I say that? I just think that Toyota is going overboard in this. I'll bet they could have made an IS-F based Supra with the money they used developing the Venza. Or maybe actually building that lightweight sports RWD sports coupe the rumor mill keeps hinting at. They put sooooo much energy in this one area, and completely neglect other areas. Where's Toyota's hot hatch? Where's their sports car? Where's their roadster? I think Toyota should realize that they have the family-mover market pretty well covered, and branch out. |

3 kids in a five-seat vehicle like the Venza is a non-starter. Modern child seats don't fit three across, and they can't ride up front until they're teenagers. Modern child seats don't fit three across,I agree, I think ppl who have 3 kids that close in age should look elsewhere. they can't ride up front until they're teenagers.I agree; if they're MIDGETS. |

I think they continue on that path because it is working wonderfully for them. Last year, their net profit was $13+ BILLION dollars. Sure, enthusiasts like you and I would LOVE a new Supra, or a hot little sports car. But even if they made a new Supra or sports car, I suspect the Venza would outsell either of them....... (And I counted 16 Toyotas....) |

In 2010 something RWD with 2 doors is coming to a Toyota Store near you. Dealers need it more than the company does. |

Yeah, no joke. I've been hearing about a new Toyota sports car for years. At this stage, I'd be happy with a new-generation Scion tC with forced induction right from the factory and speed and handling comparable to the class-leading hot hatches. Even if Toyota is doing well right now, a lack of diversity in a model lineup is no recipe for long-term success. Toyota is utterly failing at attracting the next generation, because it's putting too high of a percentage of its resources into vehicles like the Venza. Even the new xB has gone all bland family-hauler. |

Well rule out a Supra to bring in the next generation then....that car would cost too much $$$$ for the younger crowd. But a nice little car on an IS platform would be OK.
I mean...they had the Celica until a few of years ago, and I don't really think that did anything to attract a different generation to the marque, do you? |

Hell...I might be interested given those numbers. I came close to pulling the trigger on a LL Bean edition Outback last Fall but it was just a little bit too tight. My biggest complaint was that it was too narrow and no legroom on the rear. Sounds like this might correct those issues. Sailor, you forgot to mention how cars are cheaper in the U.S., and Canadians are being ripped off. The reference to the American LL Bean edition Outback was too subtle to qualify. Said I might be interested in buying a Venza.....not that I'd be interested in buying one in Canada Seriously though, I think this will fill a need. (roomy AWD wagon with good cargo capacity and more carlike handling) Not eveyone needs a third row or the ability to tow 5000+ lbs |

Yes and it is being designed and will be built by Fuji Industries. Just imagine a boxer four rwd coupe. |

I doubt I will ever be in this marker again, however, as the next deal will be trading/selling the 05 HL for something wife wants. |

So now we'll have CUV, slightly bigger than CUV, mid-size SUV, a little bigger than mid size SUV, full size car-based SUV, full size truck-based SUV, and giant sized SUV?
I checked out the new Forester. Cripes, only someone with a pack of kids needs something bigger than that. If I had three kids I'd get a Mazda 5 and a roof box. In a diesel, please.
If I had five kids, well, I'd never have five kids. Do like those "plus eight" people and get a Sprinter? |
