Looks like there's a good chance you'll be changing your name to 1honda sometime in the future.

Zing!

5/10 are for parts, maybe 6 (not sure about the TT)

Chrysler obviously had some trouble with door locks or starters in 1994.

Bad News is that the Honda you're driving will eventually need an expensive timing belt change but the Good News is that the car will be stolen long before that maintenance is due  :P

5-7 are easy to explain. A few months ago a bait car was parked outside my house by the local police. There were no bites, but the day after they moved it 1 block over, it was stolen by a couple of teenagers. It was a '90-something Voyager. They are much prized by thieves. The vehicle is stolen, used to transport goods from a subsequent B&E, then abandoned after being unloaded. Quite standard practice, at least in BC.  :P :P

  @ the Honda comments.

Our friend had a 94' Caravan, hot wired, gone for a few days, and was found in a Wal-Mart parking lot on the other side of the city. It was stolen right out of the University parking lot. Must of been some students who needed a ride. ::)

I think Fuzz has already mentioned that those Caravans (and some other cars) are quite easy to break into and hotwire -- that's why they're on the list.

I am so baffled by the fact that the 2000 Audi TT made the list.  It's not even a volume-seller.  Was their something wrong with its locks and/or starter?

I never had my SIR stolen but someone did steel the SIR off the back.
I bought a new one and now keep it in the glove box.

Thats pretty common. Same with the Mercedes Benz emblem/logo. Just snap it right off.

My wifes friends had her moms minivan stolen while she (the friend) was at work. The van was found a few days later with a bunch of dildos and sex toys in the back. I always wondered what that was about but if it was stuff left over from a B&E that might make sense. I mean its not like you can sell that stuff used!!  :-X

I bought it to put on the car but then I figures that someone will just steel is again so I keep it in the glove.
When I sell it it will be there for the next owner to either put it on our to keep in his glove box.

Most of the list is due to ease of theft and utility.  As mentioned, the vans are useful and blend into traffic.  No one steals an STi to commit a robbery.  They are stolen because the parts are valuable and they are simple to take.

Oh, and use "The Club" but only in conjuction with other anti-theft measures.  They are a minor deterrant to a real thief.

Hondas are easy to steal, and they were the last (and Subaru) to install decent anti-theft devices as OE equipment.  I have heard that the best way around the immobilizers is to break into the house and simply steal the keys.
No place I'd rather be...
