2008 Nissan Titan Crew Cab 4x4 SE LWB
2008 Nissan Titan Crew Cab 4x4 SE LWBToday's Test Drive:
The Nissan Titan offers two wheelbases and body styles with four box lengths, says Assistant Editor Jil McIntosh, along with a single V8. It's gutsy and comfortable, but so bulky it's a handful in traffic.

Huh  Roll Eyes What about talking about the loud engine and exhaust noises that make it unbearable on long drives. No mention of the tiny 1100lb cargo capacity of the crew cab or the poor payload access. No discussion about the well below average reliability the Titan owners have experienced. On a positive note what about the ultra smooth I can pull a house transmission and driveline? But hey! A full size truck with a long wheel base is hard to park when getting groceries! Tongue

With the quality of full sized competition heating up and the market shrinking Ghosn knows it's time to....

.....sh*t or get off the pot.

Imagine the discounts if they actually cancel the Titan.

Are you joking? The Titan has been way past doomed for quite some time. They could hook up with Lada and sell more than they do now.

November 07 sales:

F-Series 5807
Ram 2994
Silverado 2752
Sierra 2850
Tundra 1128
Titan 136

Why does the F150 sell so much better than the Ram, and Silverado/Sierra? Cheaper pricing = more fleet sales?  Huh

If you combine the Chev and GMC sales they are tied with Ford. That's the way it's always been AFAIK. Similar number of dealers, roughly comparable trucks. For some reason GM split their truck line in two and handed the sales crown to Ford on a technicality.

Dodge was always #3, they used to be a very distant third as they were neglected by Chrysler (great drivetrains if you could stand the crappy 20 year old body design). Their market share in the States was 7% in the late 80's and what they had was mainly because of the Cummins diesel.

They've caught up a lot with the post 1993 Freightliner body styles, not sure why they've never matched GM or Ford.

My understanding is that Dodge trucks don't quite have the reliability reputation that Ford or Chevys do with the half-ton crowd.  I don't know what CR says, but all three people I know who have owned relatively-new Rams have had some issues with them (two had brake failures; the third had transmission problems).

I think you are exactly right. There's a couple good articles on Dodge pickups right here on C. Driver:

http://www.canadiandriver.com/articles/cc/94-01ram.htm

http://www.canadiandriver.com/articles/cc/94-01ram_recalls.htm

It's strange because the old 'Ugly Dodges' were known for great drivetrains. I had a buddy who had over 400,000 km on his 4X4 Power Ram without trouble, and he was probably the hardest person on equipment I have ever met.

I quite like the Titan. It has the attitude of a Ram, so think of it as the closest competitor from image alone. Probably fighting with Tundra intenders moreso, but I like the visual stance and the new LWB capacity.

In the states I've seen plenty of them, but rare sight up here. I would be more of a fan if the reliability rep were better. Know there have been great deals on these trucks tho, but same can be said for others as well.
