It's just completed... finally! Given that CDN$ once went to US$1.10, I ordered the black bezel headlights from USA and finally get 'em installed!

Those black bezel headlights are from HELLA (OEM Volvo verified, DOT and SAE approved) and, as far as I know, it ain't available as an option in 2001... yet. (But already there in Europe as part of the sport package, before the final facelift in 2003, where the black bezel headlights include 2 chrome rings.)

So here are the pictures... only some of them because I dun want my license plate number "leaked"  :rofl2:

(Taken by Sony Ericsson S700i/S710a cellphone cam)

But here's the guideline for getting auto parts from USA (while CDN$ is above or at parity)
- altho things are cheaper, don't forget when you pick up the package, TAX SURCHARGE! ><"
- make sure the parts are in excellent condition. My right-side light was later realized that the inner part came LOOSE! Luckily I know the headlights can be fixed by replacing the inner parts... so the headlights are "opened" and swapped from my "old" headlights, and it works. If not I would be damn pissed... esp. I bought the headlight from eBay... ><"

re MKII: it's just my first post for the pix ^^"

re 2hondas: not exactly. It reminds me for JZX100 Toyota Chaser!  ;D Feel free to compare.

Other than the right-side headlights, the corners and left-side headlights are ordered from http://www.thevolvosite.com/ and it's guaranteed OEM, not aftermarket DEPO stuff. Highly recommended. But get your credit card ready because they don't accept overseas PayPal. =="

By the way, here's my V40 before the mod.

(The corners are original chrome bezel version!)

Looks good.  I wish I could have found that red colour when I picked up my 01 V40.  We have the Saphire Black on Tan.

Splendid! I think it also looks good if the black bezel headlights are installed in your car!

Anyways, if you want to have 'em brand new from Volvosite, expect $600+ including tax surcharge when arrived to Canada and installation. (depends on which garage you are visiting.) But I believe it is still cheaper to obtain from the dealer, which may charge you up to $1,000 including installation. (I hope it's over-estimation.)

By the way, the RAZO Premium White Zero bulbs (for my low-beams) are not included... expect extra $100 (source: First Markham Place) :P

In Europe, this package will be standard under the trim "Titanium", also with front lip spoiler and rear spoiler.

Really good looking.

Why are you using plastic wheel covers now, winter tires?

I loved the bezels when they came out (2004?) thought it really improved the look of the S40/V40. Good mod!

There are two versions of black bezel headlights... mines are first edition, those who chrome rings are second edition, for 2003-2004 cars. I am not sure that the latter can fit into my 2001 car because I don't know if there are any wiring differences or anything big that may need to be heavily modified.

The next stage is to put my UK style number plate (registration number is Ontario-legal and ACTUAL i.e. ABCD 123 format instead of AB08 CDE... yes it's ordered from UK, and NO it's not German style Euro-plate!) in front of the car... which also means I need to uninstall my existing Ontario number plate and put it in the trunk... or windshield... any legal advise would be appreciated.

Hopefully everyone still remembered my V40 with black bezel headlight conversion... it just passed 96,000km (60,000 miles) this monday! Still going strong! Now the trouble is the front went SQUEAKY ==" Handbrake was a bit "loose" again, probably pulling it too hard... any suggestion is appreciated.
