AS -"Those quotes were in ITALICS  It wasn't my writing if that's what you thought"
Maybe you should be providing a link, that may help with the confusion :D

Are you sure those are my exact words  ???   Perhaps you could provide a link if it's not too much trouble.  :)

that may help with the confusion

Nothing in this world can help as the later part of the thread so gloriously illustrates.   ;D

Just because you say anything on here does not make it fact such as the statement that they only make bad and worse Steve. That just shows how little you really do know to begin with. They all produce different grades and use different amounts of filtering media in each model they produce but they all pass SAE specs in order to be sold in the 1st place. No product can wear their stamp of approval without a proper clearence from them in the 1st place. The manufacturer of the engine you own is calling the shots on the specs involved and what ypou get is what you pay for as well. I am sure they all have a small percentage of failure rate as that would be normal unfortunately in any product lineup.  :)

They all pass specs but Fram is at the very low end of it.  It's like comparing recycled no-name Wal-Mart motor oil with Pennzoil Platinum or Mobil 1.  Or to echo a recent thread, you could say they are like an Exide battery vs. a Delco one.  They all meet the CCA requirements of the vehicle, but why would you choose one over the other?

If that's the case get busy and name them.  Fram only makes the same basic unit for any label and it's the sh*ts.  This thread documents that very well.  If you have an proof to the contrary then lets have it.    :stick:

@#$% me! I've been buying Fram for a few years as I thought they were better than some cheap OEM my mechanic had. Thanks steve and saf for the info. The pic is self explanatory. I am so pis$ed now I didnt support good manufacturers but the crooks with their commercials.

Any NAPA dealer.  They are strictly WIX.  Often they are not stand alone stores.  They can be apart of another business.  So look in telephone book and call the 800 number and they will get you the location in your town.  In Owen Sound for example, they partner with an electrical supply house called Ideal Supply so if you drove by you wouldn't know it was a NAPA dealer.

It just goes to show that good advertising can sell an inferior produce.  :'(

FRAM BAM THANK U MAN....................click pic to enlarge

Thanks for the pic, Saf. Very informative.

Just so there's no confusion, though, at least some of Honda's OE oil filters are made by Fram. There was a bunch of fuss a few years ago when Honda switched from a quality Japanese filter (maybe the one in your photo?) to a cheaper Fram for the Civics.

Not sure, but I think the OE filters for the S2000 and maybe some others are still the good ones.

Moral of the story - just because the filter says Honda, that doesn't mean it's not a Fram.  :P

"I generally fill it with a can of EOS instead of oil as its really helps create better lubrication for the engine. This also helps with the engine cooling as well as the lubricating of the moving parts."

??? ??? ??? its not smth Greek and spiritual is it?  ;)

The idea of using a bigger filter sounds interesting though.

Dan you are doing yourself and engine a great favour by doing that type of maintenance to your vehicle. You know the difference of useing the EOS on a reg basis. I always try to use as large of a oil filter that I can find and the diesel ones fit very well on the small block GM engines. It does allow me to carry more lubrication in the even of a leak or engine that is burning oil. I am on top of both of those problems which I don't have happen but stiil the knowledge that I have the extra oil in the system is worth the extra little bit of money involved. Steve the next time you go thru Stratford you should stop at Fram and get a education on oil filters as you certainly don't anything about their products at all. AS usual you are totally clueless on this topic like many others. I do know their product lineup quite well as I have 4 family members who work there and a few who have retired from there including my late father-in-law.  You are getting worse instead of better and its getting more pathetic everytime you post nonsence like this. :)

^^^^Steve is right Barrie.  Some of the FRAMs had been more prone to failure than other filters.  This wasn't made up.  But I guess since your family works there these filters must be the the ultimate, super-duper, best filters in the world..... ::)

Hmmmmmm....am I seeing a pattern?  GM is the greatest cause you worked there, and provide you with a retirement.  FRAM is also great because they employ your family........Hmmmmmmmmmm    :rofl2:
