Pay stubs, would not depend on the size of the company,
I believe with Simply accounting it would print out on letter size paper.
But still there are all kinds odd a$$ out there

Its a shame that you can't lay charges against this idiot or even bill him about $100. an hour for your time and trouble. I suspect this type of nonsence would slow right down when the word got out .  Smiley

Great stories. Keep them comming. Stupid customer stories are muchmore varied and much funnier than the typical "sleezy salesman" stories that have abounded on this site.
Perhaps you can create a compellation of stupid customer stories. Would definately be looking forward to that.

First sounded like a young guy working the tar sands?

What are people thinking???!

I was a sales consultant for all of 5 weeks and it opened my eyes to a newfound level of customer retardedness. I had a few wonderful customers - and treated them equally well, but was more amazed by the number of assclowns that strolled onto the lot. Also have an appreciation for what salespeople in general go through routinely.

Nothing that would top Cord's stories here. Just head scratchers and payment buyers willing to make a deal even if it meant payments for the rest of their life and thousands in interest.

About an hour later, the Sales Manager gets called into the General Manager's office and is told about a complaint he received and is told "we can't be treating customers this way and that I want this customer approved today." Of course, the customer didn't relay the entire story to the GM but high level managers are all about avoiding heat and making people happy so that's what we have....

...When the lender sees them they respond with, "Are you kidding me?" They call the guy's employer and learn that he'd been fired two months ago! So now our relationship with the lender has been damaged.

These are interesting stories and let us see the other side of the coin.

What would frustrate me the most in this situation would be the GM's direction to his Sales Manager & Finance Manager... Too bad he's not accountable for not supporting his staff and for the damage he's caused with that lender.

Thumbs up Cord. About time there was some new and fresh writing on this forum.

How is it possible that after electricity has traveled through hundreds of miles of power line then hundreds of feet (or yards) of romex in our home, that changing the last three feet of wire with something exotic, expensive (cool looking, and packaged in a pricey box) is going to make a difference?

 snowy  Why I oughta...

In looking at where the value of used cars is going to be in 2,3,4 years, and considering the low lease rate and the fact that my company pays the majority of my payments, I'm looking at tossing in the keys at the end of my lease for a car that's worth thousands less than Mazda had originally anticipated -- and will have paid far less than I would have if I'd financed it and tried to re-sell.

I believe I read somewhere the other day that the average dog costs its owner more than $30,000 over the course of its life for all the food, vet bills, toys, doggie beds, etc.  I assure you the total cost of all the interest on my leases and finances for cars to date has not totaled that much.   Wink

...but I digress...

Cord, I too love the stories.  Please do keep them coming.

Surely the Miata will be less affected by the influx of cheaper US vehicles to the Cdn market, but still, it's got to have some effect on almost all vehicles purchased in '06 / 07 in Canada for resale in a few years.  How can it not?  If more MX-5s are brought in to the country at a greatly reduced rate, what's that going to do to the value of my car?  Hell even Mazda's huge discounts on remaining '07 MX-5s alone help to depreciate my car.

My case being a rare scenario isn't the point -- I was responding to AVT's wide-swept remark about all people who lease.  Wink

Just time for a quick one tonight. This one happened a couple years ago and I may have mentioned it then. But it is definitely a classic around our store.

It is amazing how many customers confuse the motives of a car dealership and the motives of a private seller. I guess it is to be expected somewhat because people may be shopping one and then the other in their search for a used car.

It was a warm summer evening and a middle aged gentleman was talking with one of the salesmen about a used minivan. I was standing outside the office and happened to overhear some of their conversation. Now this customer was obviously a very analytical type - he had various printouts from the internet, he had a checklist of what to do on the test drive, and had a written list of questions for the salesman. He was pleasant, polite, and seemed to have good rapport with the salesman.

I was eavesdropping mainly to hear what the salesman was saying so I could give advice or kudos afterwards depending on what I heard. Everything appeared to going smoothly. They had just returned from the drive and the salesman was going over some additional features, explaining the remaining warranty, basically telling the customer about what a great vehicle it was.

When the salesman was done, the customer took a last look at his notes, closed his binder and uttered the classic line, "Well, if this van's so good why are you selling it?" The salesman, who was very experienced, was completely tongue tied, at a total loss for words. Knowing I'd overheard, he looked at me for help. The look on his face was one of complete confusion and helplessness. The customer looked at me too, but he was still expecting an answer to his question. I think I blurted out something like, "That's what we do here."

We never did sell that guy. I was never sure if it wasn't because I didn't say something like, "Well, the kids have grown up and we just don't need a van anymore."
