Some people purposely disable DRL. Can't imagine why but they do.
Chris Matthews, CNBC: "You know, I forgot he was black tonight for an hour"
Jon Stewart: "This guy is one scotch away from being Ron Burgundy"

I've noticed this too.  I think these people don't want the dab gum gov'ment tellin' 'em what to do.  I think it's stupid, but until there is legislation against stupidity they'll probably be OK.  Wait a minute....there is legislation against stupidity.  I believe that under the Ontario Highway Traffic Act it's illegal to disable any type of safety equipment.  I know that a car won't pass a "safety" as a result.  I'm sure DRLs are considered safety equipment in this context.

I drive a 1989 Honda CRX Si and I make absolutely sure that my headlights are on during the day because with everyone else (well, pretty much...) using DRLs my little bitty CRX becomes invisible in comparison since it doesn't have DRLs.

On a related note, has anyone else noticed how freakin' bright the DRLs are on the new Chryslers...especially the Jeeps?  Are the DRLs on these vehicles full brilliance high beams?
