You didn't answer my question  ???  (nothng personal, I'm just interested in what the licensing situation is in Quebec.)  In Ontario no hand brake = no transfer of ownership.

I agree, forget the hand brake. It will be new cables and then some parts at the rear drums. Lots of $$$$$.

Air cleaner = Canadian Tire.

Just drive this car as is till it stops.  Don't let the front brake pads wear down to much.  I'm pretty sure 92 Accord is part of the same series of Accord that have the most labour intensive front brake rotors of all time.

The parking brake would run you two hours in labour according to Mitchell, which is what my local Canadian Tire uses (it'll be roughly the same elsewhere, even if they use different systems).  Since it's an automatic, forget that repair and rely on the parking pawl.

Pull the spark plugs and see if they are running too rich.  If they are, the ground electrode will be black and sooty.  Call around and see if you can find a garage that will pull your code for free.  Then post that code here and see if anyone has any insight.

When you need to blast the heat, open the rear passenger window and see if that helps.

If I keep running it til it stops running and then it needs repairs, won't I be far worse off than if I repaired these problems now? ???

articsteve: Sorry for not answering question before. The car is registered in my name and I pay 47$ a month for insurance with no collision/no comprehensive.

Keep running it until it stops, then get another car.  More problems are going to surface with a car this old, and unless you have the time and skill to do the repairs yourself, the car will be a money pit.

To bring that car up to speed you would need to spend a minimum of 2K.  Even at that something else could go.

Make sure your antifreeze is good to -30C.  You can by a gauge to check that for under 10 dollars.  You should be able to change the air filter yourself.

I didn't want to really make another topic on this car so I'll use this one and hopefully get a response.

Which of these places do you reccomend for me to have my oil changed for the (beater) Accord?

Canadian Tire: I have heard a lot of negativity involving them but none of the cases happened in Quebec. Hmm! How much is it for a old car?

Wal-Mart: Never been there for auto service. Should I? How much do they charge?

Anything else I should know for the future oil change?

Be wary of being upsold. Check the airfilter, coolant condition, etc (whatever they advertise they check) yourself first. I've only went in once for an oil change to a quick lube place. It's all very nice and easy, but when they came and said 'This needs to be done, that needs to be done' I found it easy to say yes because I wasn't sure.

So I ended up paying a hundred bucks instead of thirty.

It's a bit like bringing a customer into a restaurant with the cheap advertised special and then getting them to buy the high profit drinks and dessert.

And double check the oil level, filter for leaks, drain plug for tightness etc yourself after you get out. Mistakes can happen. I forgot to tighten the drain plug myself the last oil change, caught it with this 'safety check'.

Can't you just say no to all that? Can't you specificially leave a note in the car windsheild saying "JUST DO OIL CHANGE - NOTHING ELSE MUST BE TOUCHED!!!"?

Drain plug and filter are both underneath...I can't see them without a jack and now it's winter so its frustrating..hmm...
