November sales
« on: November 30, 2007, 07:55:48 pm »
About how long does it take for the last months sales numbers to be released? I'm quite curious about if all the "strong dollar" rebates and incentives worked or if people sat on the sidelines as some have suggested.

I know I've talked to friends in 2 local dealerships and they variously described November as "brutal" and "dead". One guy told me the only thing his store was moving was low margin entry stuff that had strong finance and lease programs.

Month-end will probably be Monday? Not sure where it falls this month.

Will OVR's new car show up as just one or three... the other two that he nearly bought ????

Adding to the Cdn Sales thread, but overall don't think the market has been impacted too much. I too heard November started slow but picked up.

Sounds as though everyone is down, except for Chrysler: http://www.reportonbusiness.com/servlet/story/RTGAM.20071203.wautos1203/BNStory/robNews/?page=rss&id=RTGAM.20071203.wautos1203

What I find most interesting is the claims in the article that vehicle sales have slowed because of a weak economy.  The Canadian economy is doing fairly well, manufacturing sectors excluded, and I find it a very weak claim to say that economic slowdown is responsible for poor sales.  Everyone is griping about US car prices - clearly the spread between Canadian and US pricing is causing a slowdown.

Not a bad showing IMO. Sales slowed all of 5% (fell 6,000 units). While significant, it's not the huge drop many anticipated.

When you add in the 25,000 imported vehicles (which I would guess are up by more than 6,000 units), Canadians actually bought more cars last month.
