Hope it hasn't become bigger.

:iagree: I hope it hasn't, but I expect that it has grown just like all the others.  :'( :'(

Can't think of anything else like the old Forester in the market now. Maybe an SX4 AWD but that does not have the same ground clearance and I think it uses a Haldex clutch?

As far as real AWD, compact hatchback size, the Forester was about it.

Reminds me 08 Outlander....

Very nice pic of the brochure. Thanks.  :) I think it looks really sharp, and that Subaru will sell alot more, IMO.

mmret, could the Caliber AWD be a cheap competitor to the Forester?

Here are a bunch more... looks pretty good imo.  Could be in the running for our next vehicle in a year or two.

I think it looks okay. The Forester looks like it gained some size and appears to be underpinned by the legacy platform.

I think it looks good too. Not really keen on the interior though. It seems to share some styling cues with the Tribeca.

I'm glad to see Subaru didn't attempt to make the front of this more truck-like, similar to how a lot of other vehicles are looking these days - even cars like the new Accord.

But I can't help thinking that this new Forester is the most boring new vehicle design I've seen lately.  It is however, quite mechanically capable and it is much better alternative for most people than a full size SUV.

I got a chance the other day to take a good look at the updated Tribeca in person and I was really impressed. It was much nicer looking to me in person than what I'd expected from seeing it in pictures. I see similar styling cues in the new Forester, now I want to see it in person.

It does look much more cute ute-ish than the old tall wagon style.

To err is human, to blame it on someone else is even more human.

I guess "boring" could describe it... but I prefer to say it has conservative styling. :)  The styling actually reminds me of the current Mitsubishi Outlander:

Either way, I really like the new look (liked to old design too) and I'm looking forward to seeing it in person to get a better feel for size and build quality.  Also, waiting to hear about powertrain specs and pricing for the Canadian market.  Hopefully Subaru will price it closer to our US counterparts.  The $38K for the current gen XT model is really steep.  I think this gen should be priced out between $26K base to $33K max at the top end.  Also, considering that Canadians can buy a CDN Tribeca for $35K (after cash rebate), I think $33K is still on the higher side by comparison.

Aspro Foresters should be $22,995 to $28,995 and Turbo models $27,995 to $31,995.  While still a bit more than US pricing, those marks would quash cross-border shopping and increase Canadian sales volume dramatically.
No place I'd rather be...

It's just so painfully generic.  Subaru seems to have abandoned the idea of having any sort of distinctive aesthetics.  You can kind of tell a Toyota or a Dodge or a Volkswagen without looking at the badge.  This could be anything.

People always bitched about the "quirky" styling of Subie's. Can't make everybody happy. Well here ya go. Vanilla maybe, but it looks good to me.

It wasn't a beauty pageant before still isn't now. It was quite boxy, still retains its 'boxiness' not curvacious like others CRV, CX-7 etc. Looks good enough for the mainstream market, the pricing would keep it at the same levels as it has before.

Hopefully, it doesn't lose its usefulness due to its drivetrain and storage area, rear-seat legroom seems to have improved. I'll wait for this to appear on the market and proper specifications.

I think it looks fine.  Its increased size should solve the rear seat room problem nicely.  I've been in a few Subies and I've always found the rear hip and leg room to be lacking.

Those prices look good, too.  Where did you get them and what is "Aspro"?

EDIT:  I take it that it is a rather bizarre way of saying "normally aspirated"?

I liked the quirky Scoobie styling, especially the 2006-2007 Impreza.

Or a US Tribeca for 26,900 ;D

If that were the pricing, I'd definitely be making a visit to my local Subaru dealership to take a serious look.  Let's hope Subaru Canada is listening.  :)
