I wouldn't believe very much of what the Canadian auto industry is saying. I definitely agree with them that Canada is a much different market with a much larger percentage of smaller and more basic cars than the US. This probably accounts for the very large difference in price on the upscale vehicles. For example, the percentage price difference on a Honda S2000 is far greater than on a Honda Civic.
The Canadian auto industry is going to say whatever it has to in order to justify the higher prices in Canada. Their argument of equipment differences and higher price incentives in Canada is total BS. They know that the average consumer does not have the ability to check actual selling prices very easily. The differences in equipment are so insignificant that it is not even a consideration. They justify a $10,000 difference in price because of $20 windshield wipers?
