But the commecials have a much broader audience so, even if affects 0.0001% of people in that way, its too much IMO.

Oh please. Not that old chestnut. I guarantee that one child will be killed by a car next year. Is that enough reason to ban all cars?

I guarantee that some underage kid will get drunk and hurt someone next year. Is that reason enough to ban alcohol? We could on and on until we've outlawed everything but feather pillows (whoops - someone might die from an allergic reaction).

The old "one is too many" statement is just a politically correct but meaningless statement that usually indicates little thought put into a subject.

Just because you have a spirited engine under the hood does not mean you have to drive it as such. I drive my truck about 8 months of the year on the streets and have more HP then most of the vehicles around me. I don't purposely speed or drag race anywhere especially in residential areas. To me it much more mature to just enjoy the drive and not abuse my vehicle by driving like a idiot as just the knowledge that I could if I wanted to is enough to satisfy me 99% of the time. I let the rest of the folks go bye as I totally ignore the ones that want to fool around at the lights. I let them spin their tires and clutchs and mind my own business.  :)

I know that, but driving a truck is different then driving a high performance car or motorcycle. The truck needs the power to haul and tow stuff. A performance vehicle needs it to go fast.

So my comment about the commercials affecting people’s behavior is perhaps wrong and you’re right I haven’t given it much thought, I was merely speculating what might be causing people to drive aggressively.

My main point was that when one is driving a high performance machine built for speed, the temptation is there and it’s not hard to reach some ridiculously stupid speeds. In fact it is harder to resist driving like a madman, IMO.

And before you get on my case about it, I’m not saying ban all performance cars. I was only saying that I wouldn’t want to own one as my main transportation for everyday use. I fail to see the point of paying a premium price, tons of gas and higher insurance rates and rarely being able to enjoy what I am paying for. Unless your enjoyment comes from just knowing the extra performance is there if you wanted it, I do not understand it otherwise.

Actually, I am rarely tailgated by STis and the like.  I have never been tailgated by a Porsche or Lambo.  Most of the time, when someone cuts me off, it's someone in an Oldsmobile or Ford Escort or old Sentra or some other POS car (which doesn't have much power and has zero handling ability).  I do tend to see 3-Serieses being driven aggressively, but honestly, the real sporty cars are not the problems with over-aggressive driving IMO.

The real sporty cars like Porche, Lambo, etc. probably get tracked, and the over-aggressive idiots driving crappy cars don't care that much about their vehicle, they probably don’t get any enjoyment form driving and can't be bothered to leave for their destination on time so they always have to pull stupid stuff?

I think so.

Nobody who really loves their car tailgates others.  It's a great way to ruin your baby.

:iagree: with this assertion and witness it all the time. Also agree with (a large number of) 3-series' being driven deliriously. I am quite apprehensive of minivans and pseudo-sporty SUVs' attempts to drive over the traffic.

Today I witnessed two things that confirmed exactly what you guys have been saying:

1. An old Dodge van tailgated me and then passed me in a construction zone.  ::)
2. A newish BMW 3 series cut in front of a line of cars waiting to turn right where it was a 10 minute wait for me and everyone else. He zig-zagged through the trafic after that too.  >:(

EDIT: No calls to police were made... no point I figure. But I did wish they were around.

No you have not met my old truck as its got lots of HP under the hood and not just for towing with. It runs the qt mile not too bad for a 2 ton vehicle. It is more then a tow truck period.  :) ;D
