Second letter for this recall?  Well you have four wheels, so you should expect 2 more letters

So what.  :)  The chance of this actually happening is so remote IMO, but since it can they fix it.  20 years ago they didn't catch these little niggly details.  30 years ago cars would explode when struck from behind and they did jack sh*t about them or take 6 years thinking about it.  Cars are so much safer today than just a few years back it's not funny.

This is in Consumer reports with a total recall of 182,756 Civics for the years 2006-2007. According to Steve losing a wheel is nothing aye. I wonder if it would be nothing to him when it happens to his car. If they have issued a recall then its a serious matter not to be left unlooked at by any owner. Maybe 20 years ago Honda would not have caught it but I'm sure many other builders would have.  :(

If he could snap a pic of the wheel/tire as it races past him and post it here; that would be cool.  :)

Saw that happen once.  A one ton truck with a flat deck was coming towards me on the highway. 'Something seems odd' I said to myself, eating my chips, 'his outside dual tire is on an angle'. It was attached and everything, but somehow was turning at an angle to the truck.

My brain obviously wasn't turning over too quickly, cause I didn't grasp what was going on. But sure enough, I checked in my rear view mirror as he went by and the outside tire (which must have been only hanging on by a couple studs) came off the truck right after he passed me and went flying across my lane to the opposite ditch. Followed shortly by the inside dual, whereupon the truck's axle fell to the highway in a big shower of sparks.

Kinda wonder what would have happened if that tire would have came off in front of me. Sometimes stuff seems so unreal it's hard to react to it. 1) 'That's odd' 2) tire comes through windshield 3) die

I witnessed an event like that too. A Fiat X-19 coming toward me on a curve lost a wheel. The wayward wheel hit a curb and bounced straight up in the air and then crashed down right on the roof of the car ahead of me. That driver hadn't seen a thing and was quite stunned when his roof caved in out of nowhere. The Fiat traveled quite a distance on three wheels before coming to a stop.

This has happened on the 400 series of highways and others and folks have been killed because of it. The runaway wheels from a larger tractor trailor really pack a punch when the hit another vehilce and usually someone does die from it. Ont went thru a rash of it a fews years ago now and the trucks are inspected a lot heavier now then ever.  :(
