OEM Parts Prices - Not Just Vehicle Prices.
« on: November 03, 2007, 07:27:42 pm »
OK, so I've already saved well over $616 or 42.3% on OEM Honda parts that I had to order for my Honda CR-V during the last two months. Considering I've spent practically nothing on my car in its first 8 years, thats more than acceptable. Nothing broke or wore out till now.  :)

Well my Catalytic Converter kicked the bucket last Tuesday...total car shut down and it would hardly start and idle. I guess that explains the OBD 0420 code I've had to reset the last few months.  ::)

So here comes another $600 in savings over buying locally.

What can I say other than, so sorry and get competitive!
What you won't find in my car is a coffee, cigarette and a cell phone. What you will find is a driver; imagine that, a driver in a vehicle. What an effing concept!

A car has to do more than just perform; it has to stir your soul!

A true driver's car does not have cup holders.

Thanks! I thought I had posted something before. The memory is going; old age, you know.

Anyways, I'm thrilled that I diagnosed the problem myself and that I'm saving a wad of money. ;D

I think prices for most consumer products are slowly (but surely) falling into line. For example I purchased a camera lens last weekend. The cheapest I could find it, with any sort of warranty was $480. I purchased it in Canada for $580 minus $25. I saved on shipping and extended the warranty by buying in Canada. Furthermore, for a lens at least, I saved piece of mind by not worrying about the possible damage in shipping. The lens used to retail for $680 in Canada.

Wal-Mart is selling books at the US cover price.

As higher priced stocks deplete, they'll be replaced with lower prices.

Really have feel for the small retailer, has Xmas stock order months ago and cannot send product back if it does  not sell
Wally Mart can tell the wholesale to take there stock back or drop their  price to Wally Mart if it does not move
Wally Mart is more like a consignment shop then a retail store

I doubt any smart business has 4 months worth of stock sitting around doing nothing. Besides, the US dollar has been at CA$1.10 or lower for some time now.

It isn't just lower prices. The OEM Honda parts I ordered from the US are discounted on top of lower MSRP pricing. What is it about Canadian business that they can't get it through their thick skulls that the S in MSRP stands for "suggested", not "fixed".

Yet Canadian business and a certain number of consumers will critisize one's out-of-country purchases. Do you think business doesn't look for the best price when they're buying? And if business can get a product for 10% cheaper, don't hold your breath if you think they're retail it for 10% or even 5% cheaper. They're out to make a profit, so I'm exercising my right to realize a savings.
