I've now found the installation manual for the alarm system and after a look at the wiring diagrams I've come to the conclusion that my poor Miata has been horribly molested >:(

She was well taken care of, but someone was an idiot trying to DIY the alarm by themselves.  >:(

alarmectomy - haha!

I'm not sure that the alarm installation was such a hack job as the fog lights were. I'll have to take the panel under the steering column off and take a closer look at the wiring.

I know that the fog lights were added some time after the alarm system was installed. They were two separate installations by two different people, that much is clear.

To err is human, to blame it on someone else is even more human.

Hacking a set of foglights onto a car is a lot easier to get away with...hacking an alarm into the car and it'll never work right.

Shiny shoes on order, 12.8lbs each.

Must wait until January to get them :(, must wait until March or so to put them on the car and drive :'( :'(.

In other news: The wiring under the steering column looks scary complicated. I'm collecting wiring diagrams in preparation for the alarmectomy. The wire that went into the mess under the dash from the fog light switch (which I've already removed) was simply twisted together without tape or insulation of any kind :o. All the connections for the alarm system look properly done, thank god. I'm asking Santa for a soldering gun and heat shrink tubing for Christmas :rofl2:

See shiny:

 ??? ...OK...

they are 6UL wheels from 949Racing, see: www.949racing.com

15x8, 4x100 bolt pattern, +36mm offset, 59.1mm hub center, 60* standard conical seat lug hole, and as I said they weigh 12.8 lbs each, made from A356.2 alloy with spectrometer analysis of raw material to insure purity, T4 Heat treated, each batch is X rayed for material conformity, one piece cast construction, double valve design, nickel painted with durable clear coated finish.

The wheel was designed to have radial clearance for 11.5" rotors (outer rim). 11.75" rotors fit depending on caliper offset. Axial clearance (spokes) depends on brake caliper offset.

'nuff details for ya?

Looks nice with the rims and without the fog lights.   What size are those fog lights?

I'm not sure of the size. They're not very big. :-\

Why do you ask? If you want them you can have them.

I was out in the garage a couple of hours ago lying under the dash of the Miata tracing wires and labeling them.

This is what it looks like at the moment:

The first pic is with the panel under the steering wheel taken off, for reference, notice the pedals at the bottom.

Second pic is taken looking upwards from the floor below the pedals, behind the big jumble of wires in the first pic.

Third pic was taken while sitting in the passenger seat with the centre console partly disassembled. The red wire goes to the handbrake sensor, I suspect the unused harness is the factory wiring for the power window switches which my car was never equipped with (all Miatas were prewired for all available standard features regardless of whether the features were actually installed or not.) If anyone can either confirm or disprove my suspicion please do so.

I suspect you are right and hopefully somone who knows will be along and confirm. However for future references is there a Chilton's book or factory manual you can get. I'm thinking with the dollar being what it is you might be able to get one cheap out of the US.
